Is The Phantom Pain A Metal Gear Game? This Guy Might Know But He's Not Talking.

Kotaku editor-in-chief Stephen Totilo is out in L.A. for the Spike Video Game Awards. And he's dug up some evidence that appears to support the theory that the mysterious Phantom Pain game is in fact another Metal Gear title.

The moody trailer for The Phantom Pain took everyone by surprised when it aired on Friday night and theories immediately started spinning about what it could portend. Upon seeing the logo, Totilo spoke to the gentleman pictured here about the shirt he was wearing. This conversation happened at a Konami party. Moreover, the mystery man said that he designed the shirts for the Moby Dick dev outfit. When Totilo replied by saying that Moby Dick wasn't a real studio, Shirt Guy just laughed.

Konami, of course, publishes the Metal Gear games and this man's presence at a Konami fete could mean that the Phantom Pain trailer could be teasing Ground Zeroes or even Metal Gear Solid 5. Consider, too, these images sent in by tipster Nil Zero. The theory here is that a Metal Gear Solid V logo is lurking in plain sight. Active camo, anyone?

According to Totilo, no one affiliated with Konami is talking. But, then again, maybe they don't need to.

I seriously believe this to be the best way to promote a video game, never seen it done in this way before, if it is MGS5, godamn, color me impressed.
The Phantom here is definitely the game itself. I can't wait :) MOAR!!

At 1:50 you get a relatively good shot that shows his beard, appears very similar to Snake's. But the fiery pegasus, flying whale and ominous burning guy are a bit over the top for a Metal Gear game.

The only thing I can compare it to is the strange mutant battle dream sequence from MGS3. Or it being related to Silent Hill. But that hair...

MGS has always had a slight supernatural theme to the series. The Fury and The Sorrow in MGS 3 comes to mind. Plus the idea of Liquid Snake taking control of Ocelots mind (through arm transplant LOL) in MGS2 was a little supernatural too.
Otherwise, maybe Snakes on some kickass drugs in this game :D

Liquid Snake didn't take control of Ocelot. Ocelot hypnotized himself to act like Liquid and trick The Patriots into focusing on taking him down ;)

In what I think we can all agree was the dumbest plot twist of all time.

From my recollection (sounding like a politician here :P) is that in MGS2, he WAS possessed by Liquid because of the arm transplant. However, in MGS4, Ocelot had the arm removed from his body, thus having to hypnotize himself. havnt played them in a while, but im pretty certain thats what happened.

Perhaps at the time it was supernatural... but it was retconned/revealed in MGS4 to be Ocelot all along.

The patch over his eye at the end is a very Metal Gear sort of thing, too.

why dont you all go to youtube, watch it there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSfajBs2nyQ, and pause it right at 3:02- what do you see? im not gonna spoil it here, cause its gonna shock the crap outta everyone.

Oh man... Was that The Sorrow?

Has anyone noticed the white leaves/petals reminiscent of the ending of MGS3 falling when the character looks at their prosthetic?

As mentioned on meo seeker from the ground zero trailer: "from fox to phonatoms are born"

    GOD DAMN MOTHER FUCKING DUBSTEP.

Anyone else noticed the numbers above the elevator in The Phantom Pain trailer read G and 0 - Ground and Zero...
