The Most Scintillating Cover Of Skyward Sword’s Ballad Of The Goddess, Ever

Laura Shigihara? Yeah, she’s excellent. The singer, songwriter and composer behind the Plants vs. Zombies soundtrack and a few other catchy, game-related tunes once again amazes with this startling rendition of “Ballad of the Goddess” from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

To begin with, I found the contrast odd between the whispering echo added to Shigihara’s vocals and the fairly mundane visual set up (a person sitting in a room recording themselves on a webcam), but it quickly becomes irrelevant as the keyboard kicks in, the voices start layering and well, the awesomeness goes into overdrive.

Honestly? I’m being pedantic. It could have been two-and-a-half minutes of completely darkness — the vocals are that good. Let me put it another way: If the hairs on the back of your neck don’t stand to attention, then you must be dead inside.

That, or your speakers are turned off.
