This Karaoke Game Has More Than A Few Game Tunes

Calling Karaoke “popular” in Japan is like calling water “wet”. Places where you can rent your own Karaoke room (for small or large groups) cover Japan’s metropolitan landscape and nearly every bar has an ageing Karaoke machine that sees nightly use.

So of course, Karaoke video games are nothing new. However, most Karaoke games only include the songs on the disk and/or those you can buy online for a dollar or two. This is not the case, however, with Joysound Dive as it provides you with over 90,000 songs (with more added monthly) for the low price of 1000 yen ($11) a month.

And among those 90,000 songs are more than a few popular hits from the world of gaming.

So check out the video above to hear me attempt some of Joysound Dive‘s gaming tunes — and bask in the glory of random karaoke background videos. And while we’re at it, let’s play a little game. See if you can name the songs I sing and what games they come from.

Joysound Dive was released on November 23, 2011, for the PlayStation 3 in Japan. It is region locked and there are no plans for an international release. Stay tuned for our preview later this week.
