There’s an easy way to play 18 different console formats (or more) on a single device. Most of us would use an emulator. But modder John Grayson chooses to do things not because they are easy, but because they are hard.
This is his Project Unity case, and it contains the innards of 18 different consoles, spanning the Intellivision and Colecovision through the Dreamcast and PlayStation 2. What’s more, the thing has its own universal controller, reports Eurogamer. “Each system has its controller technology packed into a NES cartridge, which slides into the Master Controller’s base,” it says.
Why shove 18 different consoles into a cabinet — at a cost of 3500 man hours and £700? Grayson told Eurogamer that the original format matters, right down to the hardware. You can see more of his interview with them at the link.
