This is Hellraid, a new “first-person co-op slasher” just announced by the folks at Techland, best known for polarising games like Dead Island and Call of Juarez. Now about the name Hellraid. Kind of an ambiguous title: is it a raid ON hell or a raid FROM hell?

The armies of Hell brought pain and destruction to the realm of man, and only a select few have the fighting skills necessary to confront the devilish monstrosities. Combining elements of hack & slash RPGs, first-person shooters and online multiplayer games, Hellraid features an advanced, immersive combat system with melee, ranged and magical weapons. The engaging Game Master system makes each game a different experience, placing loot and enemies while generating random online challenges.

This looks fantastic. I am glad that they are using the kind of gameplay they are best known for and capitalizing on what is surely going to be yet another unique game. Dead Island was not your average Hack’n’Slash, so HellRaid I am sure will definately bring something great to the industry 🙂

As soon as I saw that screenshot I thought it looked like an updated version of Stonekeep….that game kept me busy for hours

I couldn’t care less about the new setting, if the game doesn’t fix the serious bugs from Dead Island it’s still going to be an awful experience.
