Warner Bros. Registers Mad Max Game Domains. Get (Tentatively) Excited

A few years ago, it was rumoured that Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios was working on a game based on Mad Max, to coincide with the release of the 2014 movie. While there’s no official confirmation that Avalanche is behind such a title, it’s a good bet someone is working on something, with Warner Bros. registering several suspect domains.

Supererogatory recently tweeted the discovery of the domains “madmaxgame.com” and “madmaxthegame.com“, with Warner Bros. as the registrant:

The domains were secured last week and as Supererogatory points out, may signal that an official announcement could be on its way in the near future.

Now, I’m just as tentative as the next person when it comes to games-from-movies (or the arguably worse movies-from-games), but given the richness of the Mad Max universe, especially ripe for plundering for gameplay material and the class of Avalanche — if it is indeed developing the title — I’m going to set my excitement gauge to “cautiously confident” until screenshots / trailers / hyperbole-filled press releases prove otherwise.
