Nintendo Japan’s Early-1990s VHS Commercials Are Incredible

Kotaku reader Toad has gotten hold of a heap of old VHS promos for Nintendo games, played in game stores in Japan in the early 1990s. These aren’t short TV spots or trailers. They’re long, detailed looks at each game, some running for over five minutes and including custom animation and live-action sequences.

Some of the games featured include Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Mario Paint and Mario Kart.

The best one is probably Kirby’s Dream Course. So many old white dudes, so little acting.
