Our 90-minute nightmare is over. Sony’s PlayStation boss Jack Tretton may have said that the long-awaited The Last Guardian was on hiatus today, but Sony’s head of worldwide studios, Shuhei Yoshida, says that’s wrong.
“That hiatus term — I’m not a native English-speaking person — but that’s misleading,” Yoshida told me a few minutes ago during an interview here at E3. He’d watched Tretton’s comments on Spike.com while eating lunch. “The game is in active development. [Lead designer Fumito] Ueda-san shared updates a few months ago. Nothing has changed. My answer is ‘Yes, the game is in active development.’ It’s not hiatus at all. But we are not ready to reintroduce it. When we are ready, we will do that. Please wait.”

I need this game. I need it to breathe, to feel, to know I’m alive.
An undeniable dilema 🙂
Boredom’s not a burden anyone should bare.
I’ll keep digging
‘Til I feel something
“i’m sorry, my english is bad, when i said ‘hiatus’ i actually meant ‘cancellled’”
This made me laugh and cry at the same time
Blasphemer! Thou shalt know the wrath of the cat/dog/chicken creature. It shall visit you in all it’s individually rendered feather glory, pick you up in its mouth, and shake you. Shake you _roughly_!
And let that be a lesson to all who disbelieve in the existence of our beloved TRICO.
“It’s OK guys, we’ve called in Gearbox. We heard they’re good at delivering difficult overdue projects.”
Phew *Wipes sweat from brow* were in good hands now. 😉
Mysteriously…Borderlands 3 appears just before Last Guardian is due for release!
This has just become ridiculous over the years – it’s DNF all over again. I’m willing to bet that the game was very quietly cancelled for the PS3 a long time ago and restarted for the PS4 from the ground up. Something is just not right here, maybe Team Ico wanted to do things the PS3 isn’t capable of.
Or perhaps they decided to create a PS3 & PS4 version, and launch them simultaneously out of the blue! It would be a good marketing decision, getting gamers to purchase the enhanced next gen version?
Maybe they just wrecked the game, over cooking it and are trying to scrape the charcoal off the toast so to speak. I mean look at GTAV and compare it development cycle wise: how is it possible for them to take this much time?
$1000 says TLG is the next DNF.
I also wonder if they have rebooted it for PS4, after all SE did it with FF Versus XIII. That and team Ico did have trouble pushing the PS3 far enough.
To be honest I rather they rebuild it right then damage their reputation building garbage rather than sticking to the unique standard Ico and SOTC delivered.
The Last Guardian is still in development…
Please hold…
