Today in Osaka, Universal Studios Japan rolled out its latest attraction, Resident Evil The Real. Here’s an inside look at the attraction, which is open for a limited time only.
Resident Evil The Real (aka “Biohazard The Real”) is a live-action shooting attraction at USJ that uses the same practice shooting system used by police and military. Each visitor is equipped with a 700g “model gun” that only has 30 virtual bullets. The goal is to shoot the zombies and other creatures, eradicating the virus contagion.
The attraction is divided into two stages. The first stage has two different routes: The Raccoon City Police Department route and the hospital route. Groups of eight go through each course, shooting zombies and other monsters along the way. Clear the first stage, and you can continue to the second, which is set in the Umbrella Research Center, for the final showdown. It takes about 5-10 minutes to go through the attraction.
Here’s a look at Resident Evil The Real, which takes its visual cue from RE2 and RE3. Photos are courtesy of Game Impress Watch and Famitsu:
Of course, there’s a gift shop after the attraction, with loads of stuff to look at and buy.
Killing zombies is hard work, so swing by a nearby restaurant for Resident Evil-themed refreshments. Yes, you can even order “brains”. Braaaaaaaaains.

It’s Biohazard: The Real. Not Resident Evil, Biohazard. I get that it’s branded differently between regions but it’s not like we’re translating Japanese to English here.
Anyhoo, sounds like fun. Joint restaurant operations make it seem even more so.
Since i cant read Japanese, does anyone know how long this attraction will be open? im going to Japan mid jan and will be in Osaka , and DO NOT want to miss this…
Holding period: November 10, 2013 (Friday) – July 19, 2013 (Sun)
Looks as though it’s only open until Nov 10th.
It says it’s open until 10th November this year..Looks like you’re out of luck buddy
Goes from the 19th of July to the 10th of November, this year only. Sorry looks like you’ll miss out.
While I can appreciate the effort they’ve gone to.. In the end, it looks like you’re “shooting” actors with most likely no more than sound effects coming from the attached wristband. I used to be into playing make believe with sound effect toys too.. When I was 7 :3
