Meet Space Dandy, The New Show From The Creator Of Cowboy Bebop

If you told me about a new TV show called Space Dandy, I’d assume it would be about a dandy who has adventures in outer space. And what do you know, I’d be right!

Over the weekend, we got a teaser for a show with that very name. It’s an upcoming series from anime visionary Shinichirō Watanabe, creator of Cowboy Bebop. Due in 2014, Space Dandy will be co-directed by Shingo Natsume of Fullmetal Alchemist fame, and features a roster of other anime talent, as well.

I loved Kids on the Slope, Watanabe’s bucolic, jazz-tastic period piece from last year. That show was a significant stylistic departure from Cowboy Bebop‘s sci-fi/noir setting, so I’m also looking forward to seeing Watanabe make a return to his genre stomping-grounds. Despite a little (ok, a lot) too much… er… breastyness in this teaser, I dig the Space Ace/Buck Rogers vibe on display here.

What do you guys think?
