Has there ever been a title in the history of video games with more teaser trailers and dev diaries than Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag? I reckon it must be up there. Anyway, the trailers are almost over. The time for the actual game is about to begin. This is the launch trailer for Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.
It’s taken a while for me to warm to the idea of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Maybe it was my disappointment with Assassin’s Creed III. Maybe it’s the fact this is being released in such close proximity to the last ‘numbered’ sequel. Maybe I worried it was an attempt to cash in on the popularity of pirates, with Johnny Depp vehicles and whatnot.
I dunno, but I never really felt like I could properly invest in this game and get excited about it.
But I’m warming to it. It is a bit of departure from previous Assassin’s Creed games, which is what we’ve been asking for. It also makes good use of the technology developed in previous entries. But what interests me more is the period of history the game is set in. The golden age of piracy is a genuinely interesting cross section of history with a host of memorable characters. I can’t wait to meet these people in game and see how they are represented. Slowly getting excited for this…
