Troy Baker, who has replaced Mark Hamill as the Joker in the next big Batman Arkham video game, and who has replaced Nolan North as the ubiquitous voice-actor who seems to star in every other major game, read some lines at New York Comic Con yesterday. And not just any lines. Some lines the great Alan Moore wrote for the Joker in the seminal graphic novel The Killing Joke. Enjoy.
For more on how awesome Troy Baker is, see here (but only if you’ve already finished The Last of Us!)
Batman Arkham Origins will be out on October 25 on PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. It’s a prequel.

Holy crap…
*standing ovation*
That laugh at the end killed me!
I was legitimately worried that without Mark Hamill the Joker would be a total flop in Origins, but that’s pretty much been blown away now.
holy crap i was like (while listening to him talk normally) this guy cant beat hamills version
but then i was like *jaw drop* the moment he started talking
perfect psychotic rythm of high and low accents in his speech
He does an excellent Joker voice so I’m not worried at all about him taking over for Hamill.
I hope that Nolan North is back to the Penguin’s voice though.
I’d rather they got someone who didn’t make Dick Van Dyke’s accent in Mary Poppins sound authentic.
Oh man, yes. North’s work as The Penguin was not to my liking either.
He hammed it up, which is exactly how the Penguin should be played.
He does a pretty good Hamill Joker.
3:35 Panorama coming through!
I miss read the heading and thought it said he was killed. Was little worried there for a moment
Troy continues to kill it. Obviously a very talented guy. His work in The Last of Us was a personal highlight.
I totally misread this story’s title and thought that some enraged fan had killed the voice actor, presumably for not being Mark Hamill.
Seems a decent hamill Joker, however to my ear its heavily Bane influenced. Needs to be more manic, less ‘intelligently deconstructing’.
Wow. I was really worried when I heard Hamill was finished with the Joker, but this guy is fantastic!
Wow wow wow wow! /inlove.
Turns out I’ve been something of a fan of Troy’s without even knowing it. I felt like his voice-work in Saints Row 3 was pretty damn great and was one of the first things I really appreciated about the game. Everything before then – while he had a few recognizable parts – they all basically sounded like the same character. But moving on between Booker, Joel, and now the Joker… all very distinct.
