Brace yourself. The Xbox One games are coming…
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (Xbox One)
What is it? The newest Assassin’s Creed game that we thought might be a bit whiffy but turned out to be quite good.
Should you care? Personally I’ve been waiting for next gen versions of this game. Haven’t touched it on Xbox 360 or PS3 for that reason.
Battlefield 4 (Xbox One)
What is it? It’s Battlefield, come on man! You know what it is!
Should you care? Personally I see this as a PC franchise, but next gen console versions will no doubt be good.
Dead Rising 3 (Xbox One)
What is it? Arguably the pick of the bunch on Xbox One launch week.
Should you care? If you are picking up an Xbox One I think you’d be crazy to ignore it.
FIFA 14 (Xbox One)
What is it? It’s FIFA. With the fancy ‘ignite’ engine.
Should you care? I think you should care.
Fighter Within (Xbox One)
What is it? It’s a fighting game that uses Kinect.
Should you care? It’s a fighting game that uses Kinect. Let’s just leave it at that shall we?
Forza Motorsport 5 (Xbox One)
What is it? The latest in one of the greatest racing franchises ever.
Should you care? Looks great and plays great from what I’ve seen.
Just Dance 2014 (Xbox One)
What is it? That dancing game that continues to sell millions.
Should you care? I much prefer Dance Central.
Kingdoms Rise (PC)
What is it? A multiplayer combat game with medieval themes and whatnot…
Should you care? This 360 degree combat thing sounds interesting, but I don’t know too much about this one.
Madden NFL 25 (Xbox One)
What is it? New Madden, new console.
Should you care? I’m not interested but, at the same time, I think it’s still a top notch franchise.
NBA 2K14 (Xbox One)
What is it? It’s a basketball game. It’s pretty good.
Should you care? Scarily real. I hate writing those words because it sounds like something that should be on the back of the cover, but it’s truly visually astounding.
NBA Live 14 (Xbox One)
What is it? Another Basketball game.
Should you care? I just don’t know enough about basketball or basketball games to really judge.
Need for Speed: Rivals (360/PS3/Xbox One/PC)
What is it? The FIFA of racing games gets a new version.
Should you care? Apparently this is pretty jammin’ apart from some weird online connection issues.
Rugby League Live 2 – World Cup Edition (360/PS3)
What is it? It’s a rugby game. Really just an update of the last one in time for the World Cup.
Should you care? Probably should just be happy a Rugby game actually exists.
Ryse (Xbox One)
What is it? That big fancy game with the weird combat and the swords.
Should you care? I’m not a fan of the combat system in this, but it is really, really pretty. The game you use to show off new consoles to your buddies.
Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers (PS3)
What is it? A fighting game based on an anime.
Should you care? Not for me. Not while a bunch of better anime based fighters exist. And Street Fighter IV.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS)
What is it? Oh god oh god oh god.
Should you care? I am hyped for this beyond belief. Apparently it might be one of the best Zeldas in years. I WANT TO BE BELIEVE.
Tearaway (PS Vita)
What is it? Whoa, I’d forgotten all about this. This is the PS Vita game by Media Molecule.
Should you care? I’ll be checking it out for sure.
Wonderbook: Book of Potions (PS3)
What is it? That thing that bored the hell out of us during E3 that one time.
Should you care? I jest — I’m sure some people love this. Not really my thing.
Young Justice: Legacy (PC)
What is it? Licensed game for a TV series I’ve never even seen.
Should you care? Looks a bit lame to be honest.
Zoo Tycoon
What is it? It’s one of those business/building type sims — like Theme Park and such like.
Should you care? Well it has a new first person mode where you can feed animals and stuff. SOLD.

Has anyone played A Link Between Worlds yet? I played A Link To The Past earlier this year, and that was just so difficult (I hadn’t played any of the old Zelda’s), does anyone know if this one is any easier?
In IGN’s review they said it was challenging an that they had not been challenge like this since ocarina of time. It has been called one of the best Zelda games of the last 20 years and got 9.5 out of 10 on Polygon and a 9.4 out of 10 on IGN so it’s a very good game but it seems like it may also be difficult.
Man – that makes me optimistic. The last few Zelda games have been stupidly easy, both in terms of the combat and the puzzles!
Awww man. Just read the Destructoid review – they said the game is really easy!
the ign review said that the puzzles were difficult but the combat was relatively easy.
i am very excited for this.
definitely game of the week =P
Zelda games have been toning down the difficulty for years now, I think you should be right.
I remember beating A Link to the Past when I was 13 I think. Such a good game, stick with it, The harder a game is, the more rewarding it is when you conquer it.
Back in the days of no Gamefaqs and no internet…. Man that makes me feel like such a lazy shit these days…. Ah well…
Dude, even I can’t resist picking up my iPad and cheating. I remember being stuck in A Link to the Past sometimes for months on end. I’d try everything and not be able to figure something out. It was frustrating and I’d wander Hyrule and try to do other stuff. But when the moment of figuring it out happened, I’d feel an unparalleled sense of joy and I’d run around the room with my fists in the air.
It was beyond frustrating at the time, but at least it was honest and real.
It’s become less common though. I mean, I haven’t used guides in Zelda for a long time, with the exception of possibly the hidden stuff. There’s often no need to.
And to be honest, it is rare not to find the “hidden stuff”, given its often highlighted by a giant boulder or glaring crack in the wall.
I do remember getting stuck, and lost, on a LTTP and OOT while younger for a month or so though.
More embarrassing is when I first hired it from Civic video and couldn’t get out of the tunnel from behind the throne….
I bought it a year later…. and pushed the block left…
EDIT: 3 day hire as well….
Duuuuuuude, Civic. Represent. Seriously though, that’s hilarious to be stuck on something so simple.
These days, a note would come up on screen telling you how you can push stuff in the environment, and the throne would be flashing yellow, and if you still couldn’t figure it out, an NPC would start repeating dialogue like “try pushing the throne to progress.”
I actually got stuck not only on the throne… but playing Saria’s song to get into the Goron king dudes throne room. Spent a week exploring instead though.
I don’t mean to sound elitist but, I am really looking forward to the difficulty
Almost everything I have played over the last few years has either led me along by the nose, or been simply boring as its too easy
I’m kinda looking forward to something at least mildly challenging :o)
Don’t get me started on difficulty in games. It’s getting pretty easy these days. I’ve gotten so soft I can’t even play half the games I conquered as a 9 year old.
I agree
My reactions and judgement has been sorely degraded due to all the in-game assists built in these days
I play every game, on the first run-through, on the hardest difficulty available, just to see if I can feel something.
A Link to the Past was difficult?
The boss fight for the dungeon on top of Death Mountain, against that worm thing that moves like it’s on crack? Definitely gave me a bit of trouble as a youngin’.
That wasn’t difficult, that was just annoying. Even in Screwattacks top 10 Worst Zelda bosses say it’s not hard, just annoying.
You forgot RYSE, Crimson dragon, Lococycle and Powerstar golf
We tend to stay away from all the downloadable games, although I think I’m going to have to change that soon.
Can’t believe I forgot Ryse though. Apologies, there were a lot of games to write up this week.
Not really “all the games” Where’s Ryse.
Ryse??? That game looks amazing!!! Screw everyone else.
Can anyone confirm the AU release date for NFS Rivals on XBONE? Everything from EA and NFS says 21st Nov, but all the aussie vendors have the 28th or 29th.
Got Ryse, Dead Rising 3 and Call of Duty: Ghosts preordered for the Xbone.
Not optimistic about ’bout it getting shipped before the weekend though, which would kinda suck.
So it looks like this week it’s Zelda and several bricks.
😛
I preordered my Day One console through the dashboard 3 months ago, though I will be picking up all release titles at midnight I am a bit worried that the console won’t turn up on friday. If that be the case, I’ll just buy one at the same time. Screw waiting 😀
Vita owners should not be forgetting Tearaway, the game is receiving so many positive comments on the web at the moment and it seems like it’s very hard to find someone that has a bad thing to say about.
Killer App is a horrible term, but certainly seems like it will be on the “must play” lists.
@markserrels The Fighter within could be one of the most important XBOne games coming out. This is the game that will tell people if they should bother to leave the Kinect plugged in or not. :p
I’m still in doubt about the Kinect 2.0 technology, I’m one of those who believe it’s 1.0 iteration wasn’t ready for the public because unless the games where super simple it never worked. Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor was just unplayable, I’m not the only person who thought that. Considering I couldn’t complete the Demo and the game left me frustrated trying to control it.
Compare this to a hard game like Dark Souls where the frustration is from the difficulty not the control scheme.
I think full kinect games are always going to fail, unless your into dancing, but using ‘some’ kinect features is the way to go, i.e. BF4 head tracking, leaning, voice commands, even if the kinect worked on the new UI the way the videos make out, I’ll be happy.
Killer Instinct?
Hell yes Killer Instinct!!!
I cant wait for Fifa 14, NBA Live 14 and Forza 5
big week indeed… will be attending midnight launch at my local EB… picking up Forza, Dead Rising and Ryse… can’t wait!
Got the day off on Friday, gonna be at JB first thing in the morning – or midnight if they have a midnight launch. BF4 and DR3 are my launch lineup alongside the free copy of FIFA14. Maybe I’ll pick up Forza 5.
Midnight launch details are out – http://www.jbhifi.com.au/games/xbox-one/?utm_source=jb-au&utm_medium=games-wings&utm_campaign=xbox-one-c-wings
Called my local – Broadway Syndey – they’re not having one because it’s not worth it for them. Thye’ve kindly organised for me to grab mine from an alternative store.
No Bankstown. 🙁
I guess Parramatta is equally convenient to drive to but I can’t be bothered having it changed over. I’ll just wait until the morning.
Looks like all the XBone hate died away nicely.
Now that the PS4 is out it seems everyone has calmed down. It’s been very pleasant hasn’t it! Back to being excited for new things rather than the ranting that’s been going on!
PS4 MOAR GRAFFIX!
Once you watch a few of the videos showing the snap and multitasking + video capture and editing functions it’s pretty clear that XBone is going to be pretty successful – if only they can avoid a RROD or a Blue Line of Death.
Makes you wonder if they just were able to show and demonstrate all the stuff they got castrated for as well…
am i silly for picking up forza5, dr3, ryse and nfs rivals all at launch? i figure they should see me through until something better comes out?
I couldn’t help myself I also grabbed a copy of CoD Ghosts – they had in store and I walked out with it. Now I need a console to go with it.
Rivals is out on 28th from what I can see?
should be this friday though according to EA/NFS
Skylanders foe xbone a launch title?
If Young Justice is even half as good as the show, it’ll be a fantastic game.
