The future is expensive and takes up too much space. But hey, it’s the future!
You might recognise the guy; we’re dealing with the same YouTuber who brought us footage of virtual GTA IV. This time, he tackles Arma 3. It’s sorta cute how he crouches with his little plastic gun — go ahead, take a look yourself:

This would be a hell of a lot of work to set up so you don’t lose any control but damn could it be good when it works
Holy shit! this would be fucking awesome for the ADF as a new version of WETS system for training
I don’t understand the fascination with these setups. If I don’t want to get up to play with things like Kinect, why would I want to do this?
It’s called immersion, and some people would take a step beyond to enjoy a new gameplay experience. VR and movement of walking is something to test your physicality. Most gamers wouldn’t want a set up like this, they wouldn’t be fit enough to play for long sessions like this.
Because it’s just about completely different to Kinect.
Or alternatively, you wouldn’t. Because this is not for people like you, nor is anyone trying to make you do it 😛
I tried using one of these like… 20 years ago, to play Duke Nukem 3D. It was truly awful and I never want to play a “virtual” game ever again.
20 Freaking years ago Duke Nukem? That’s like saying I rode on the first flying machine ever built and refusing to ride a modern air plane!
I could see getting fit with this.
Looks terribly slow to use and you’re never ever going to be able to move fast in because it’s base is a slip+slide.
