The real joy of seeing Adam West do anything on the screen is that, even at his worst, he can make the most dreadful thing fun. Because he is Adam West.
From the ’60s Batman series to Family Guy, that’s been the rule, and it applies also to Golden Nugget, a game which might sound like it’s about precious turds, but is actually about gambling.
Originally released on the PC, then later ported to the N64, PlayStation and…Game Boy Advance, it’s a casino game. That’s it. You get some money, you bet money on various games, you either win or you lose.
The awesome thing about Golden Nugget though – and thanks to VGJunk for giffing it up earlier today – is that like so many PC games from the ’90s, because it shipped on a CD-ROM, it felt the need to go that extra mile. Get some actors involved. Like, you know, Adam West.
The clip above, courtesy of Sardius, shows every movie clip in the game. You really should watch, there are few CD-ROM games (though this footage is actually from the PlayStation version) of the era that are this smooth. Or feature this many waggling cigars.
