When Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment’s Worldwide Studies, gently trolled Nintendo by joining the Wii U’s Miiverse and chucking up an image saying ‘I love PS’, we reported it. What we didn’t know is that Yoshida was actually banned temporarily for the post… and it was actually his second ban!
The first bannable offence? Putting his twitter account in his profile.
“The first time was because I had my Twitter account in my profile and that’s against the rules,” he said, as reported by Engadget. “The second time is because I wrote, ‘I love PS.’ You’re not supposed to promote a commercial product in MiiVerse, so they correctly interpreted ‘PS’ as ‘PlayStation.’”
Oh Shuhei, you cad.
Thankfully, he confirmed on Twitter that both bans were temporary, and he was back up and running very quickly after both bans.
There’s something about Shuhei Yoshida. Maybe it’s because he’s a Dark Souls fan, maybe it’s because he’s so accessible on Twitter, but I can’t remember anyone at Sony having quite the same resonance with gamers. He’s fast becoming a bit of a cult figure and, for some reason, the fact that he got busted from trolling Nintendo on its own online service just amplifies the legend.
Now we just need to get Reggie to join PlayStation+.

F’ing trolls 😐
And you think reggae doesn’t have a PS in his home. I bet his kids have everything.
I wasn’t aware a music genre could have kids.
Heh I didn’t even realize it got auto corrected to reggae
Well Metal has Death Metal, Black Metal, Goth Metal, Groove Metal…
…NU Metal, Sludgecore, Grindcore, Thrash, Stoner…
I originally thought it was Hiro from Heroes in the main pic, but Mr Yoshida’s story will do!
It’s all to drum up positive PR for Sony. Companies want people to feel personally connected to their brand. In the age of twitter, it is common for company figureheads to be a force for PR. If Shuhei Yoshida or Kaz Hirai responded to your message on twitter, you would naturally feel closer to the company. They basically let the Sony execs run wild to give Sony it’s trademark zany appeal.
Regardless, it’s still pretty awesome.
I wasn’t aware that Sony was into the business of selling textbooks. The more you know.
Maybe if Nintendo spent less time on the ganja and more time book-learning like Sony they’d be doing better!
I can understand how “I LOVE PS” could be mistaken for an abbreviation of “I LOVE PENIS” and probably got reported.
Havnt we all been banned from miiverse once?
I bet Reggie owns a Playstation 4 and Xbox 1. Doubt his family even plays Wii.
Good. He looks too much like the CEO of nvidia.
