Fighting game community site Event Hubs have done something neat: taking the main character preference and location data from over 6000 users currently playing Ultra Street Fighter IV, they have put together a map showing where they all live across the globe, and who they play as.
Note that in the interests of privacy none of the location data is exact, though since all that’s being displayed is a character icon and a spot on a world map it will be tough to track someone down and ask “why Rolento?”
You can see the full map below.

I am all for a bit of hype regarding the EVO tournament – I love me some good fightin’ games! But I feel Kotaku is totally ignoring the biggest bloody gaming tournament with the biggest bloody prize pool EVER!
Why is there absolutely no coverage of The International DOTA 2 tournament?!
Because Dota is lame.
Sorta joking…
I’m not.
you mean, like the article they posted 2 hours before this one?
What article? I haven’t seen anything on The International for the last two days (I didn’t check, could be wrong but I’m pretty sure I would’ve noticed)
I’d say it’s more to do with that it’s very easy to follow a fighting match without any prior knowledge of the game. Dota on the other hand requires a fair amount of knowledge to follow what’s going on…
…Of course the other reason is that the kotaku editors just don’t play/follow Dota.
I myself have very little interest in either 😛
Id say following either is as difficult as the other, you’d be surprised the depth of competitive fighting games.
Woah, there’s very little players in Japan. I guess the series never really caught on.
Can’t tell of joking… It’s hugely popular there, this is just a poll from English language website eventhubs users.
And not even any American players at all!
