Until then here’s a blocky version of Mount Everest made by the talented 2. He used a terrain generator program called World Machine to replicate the mountain range and, well, the result is damn realistic.
Minecraft‘s height limit is 256 blocks, so it’s around 15-16 times smaller than the real thing, since the the surrounding areas of Mount Everest are already well above the sea level.
It looks super-realistic when zoomed out, even for those who are used to CG.
But yeah, there’s no doubt those are Minecraft blocks.

I can just imagine minecraft versions of those google maps cars driving around town now
I hope that map has a dampening field for tnt since we all know what happens when there is not one, let me just say people have well used tons of explosives to destroy stuff with, but with this map, well you would need a LOT of explosives, possibly a SCIENCE lesson to demonstrate how much explosives 1 would need to destroy these mountains
Mt Everest is a lot less ~pointy~ than I thought.
Interesting.
Maybe then we’ll stop having these “x made in Minecraft” posts
Is it really “make” if he didn’t personally place a single block??
Depends if he loaded terrain data from somewhere into the generator or manually drew it in the terrain generator.
