No codes needed. All you need is a console equipped with either Xbox LIVE or PlayStation+. This is your chance to play.
According to Bungie, the Destiny Beta has now been made available to everyone, from 9am AEST. Which is… 5 minutes ago!
Today, at 4:00 PM PDT, we’re opening the Destiny Beta to anyone who wants to create a character and walk in their boots. There are, of course, some requirements. You’ll need to have a compatible console equipped with PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold. You’ll need to be brave.
Help us deliver the game you deserve. Before we shut this party down, we’ll welcome everyone who wants a preview of this brave new world. If you have yet to play Destiny, look for offers to download the Beta directly from your console later on this afternoon.
If you have played the Beta, please prepare for new arrivals. We know you won’t go easy on them in the Crucible. Show no mercy.
It is my humble opinion that the Destiny beta is awesome. It is my recommendation that you hop on immediately and have fun.

It is definately an awesome game, though I do not wish to play too much of it. I still want the WOW factor on the date of full release.
Awww. I bought the beta just last night to get some more download codes for everyone on the xbone though. I’ve been playing since it came online the other night and its been awesome so far.
Duck duck goose time!
Very cool bungie. 🙂
How big is the download file and how much longer is the beta? I don’t wanna download it this arvo just to be told the beta is finished.
well i think it finishes Saturday around 9PM, its around 10-12GB on PS4. i did mine last night x3
13.6GB or so on PS4, and my friend said it had to do another couple GB’s (maybe up to 10?) when the game first launched … I can’t confirm that.
Not possible? I had to download a 10+gb on first download and only had to download a 32mb file for the last week’s beta and another 32mb after maintenance and that’s it.
Ok, I don’t know. My friend could be mistaken and it could have just been a couple GB remaining on the 13GB download.
No worries I’m sure the client is only around 10+gb so rest assured you don’t have to download it forever.
Bungie’s website says the beta ends at the end of July 27th PST – so you’ll get the weekend with the beta at the very least
It ends Monday night for us.
Getting a big Titanfall vibe around how the beta process is running.
Is that positive thing or a negative thing?
This statement was originally going to be accompanied with an additional projection about that heading towards good things or bad things, but there’s enough to differentiate Destiny that it didn’t feel appropriate. And I can’t decide which way I think it’s heading (having played 10 mins of Titanfall and no Destiny personally)
one of the most enjoyable betas i’ve played so far. not found any huge bugs yet.. am looking fwd to getting home 2nite & playing somem more.
Bungie showing everyone how to do a very stable public beta — Ubisoft, are you watching?
I’ve played it a bit this week, but I’m probably done with it now. The actual shooting is pretty good, but I don’t really like the RPG wrapped around it, so I don’t think it’s for me.
Not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, just not my kind of game.
I’ve played 3 main missions and a bunch of multiplayer games and I got to say, I enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would.
So even PS3 owners need PS+? :/
Yeahhh…. that… doesn’t sound right.
Agreed. Unless they really do then dick move!
hey lads, this could be a silly question, but I’ve never played this type for MMO before (never been a PC guy)…
But even though the game is really cool playing with my mates when we all started at the same time and equal lvl 1…how will it work if one of your mates goes and plays solo for a day, and now I’m lvl 3 and he’s lvl 10?
Like if we get back together, are all the baddies lvl 10 and impossible for me to kill? or lvl 3 and he’s carving through them like butter?
And then, is it like he’s just joining me doing a lvl 3 mission that he’s already done and it’s no fun for him?
No, enemies will not be impossible to kill. Story based missions have the same level regardless of what your friend’s level is. Enemies levels are area specific as well that is if you are doing Explore, there are low level area and high level area. Yes he will kill them like butter.
Yes it will be easy for him but he actually get his level loot if he complete the mission with you. So not exactly no fun for him 🙂
Player damage has scaling. So a level 10 player shooting at level 3 enemies won’t necessarily demolish them. From what I’ve played, it’s still noticeably easier, but not so much that group across different levels isn’t viable or fun.
i cant find the “free beta ” on my ps4, is all says you have to pre-order to get access to it, soooo, is this article full of shit?? or am i missing something?
Does anyone know what time you will be able to start the download on Xbox 360?
[edit] – Found it. I was looking on the xbox store on a PC to get it to download while I’m at work, and the beta doesn’t come up on the same page as the listing for the actual game.
Where did you find it – can’t see it anywhere on the dashboard
Never mind go to On Demand > New Releases
Hats off to Bungie for the manipulation of the anticipation for this game. Closed beta slowly leaking out info, giving out a handful of keys with people clamouring for one by throwing their emails all over the net, finally opening the floodgates with everybody climbing over their mothers to download it. We’re such sheep, aren’t we? (86% downloaded)
Yep
Well if it lasted another week I might have bought a month of PS+ to try it out but when it ends on Monday? No chance I’m afraid. I suspect the game will remain in my “when I have extra money and nothing else to play” category for the time being (unless they release a demo when it’s out or a few friends buy it so I know I have people to play with)
In the game it says only a couple of missions (the ones that require playing in a group) require PS+. The single player-friendly story missions don’t list that.
Well a mate decided to get it since he had PS+ and I had $10 so I decided screw it, got a month of PS+ since I do want to coop stuff with him and downloaded it. From the impressions I’ve gotten from the tutorial, it seems solid fun if not spectacular, very much a blend of halo & borderlands but since I like both of those games that’s not really a negative so I’m looking forward to trying it in coop.
