Fans asked for Robin Williams in World of Warcraft, and it appears that Blizzard is actually going to include him in the game — or at least, multiple Robin Williams-like models have been found by World of Warcraft website, Wowhead.
This is what one of the models, called “A reader points out this model can be found in a previous expansion. Regardless, Wowhead found the model under the name “Robin,” and it’s entirely possible they might tweak this model — or not use it at all.
There are more models, all under the same name:
This one is also named Robin the entertainer, and it might be a Mrs. Doubtfire reference:
According to Wowhead, the models were found in data pertaining to the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor. We don’t know if these models will actually make it into the final expansion as-is, but we’ll keep you updated. Considering that Blizzard said they were “taking care of it,” and given that Williams was a big gamer who liked World of Warcraft, chances seem high that there will be some sort of nod to the beloved comic in the game, even if it’s not these models specifically.

I don’t know much about what qualifies a good WOW NPC, but his movements in the second one remind me of Genie.
Complete guess/wishful thinking here but if they have multiple models already assigned for it (even if they’re just placeholders), could we perhaps see the the character (Robin, the Entertainer) performing a regular ‘show’ with different models/jokes referencing Williams’ past jokes/movies?
Essentially similar to what Elite Tauren Chieften do now days (In Shatt?), they’re just static NPC’s normally but once an hour they perform one of their songs.
My guess is that due to the nature of Warlord’s storyline he’ll appear as some sort of shape shifting cross-dimentional guide/ally. It’d make sense since a character that could be turned into that is probably already in the expansion plans (I’m guessing there’s a Medivh-like character in there at some point). They’d just need to tweak a few things, change the dialogue, then alter plans for how that characters role in the lore plays out later down the track.
It sounds like cutting corners but it would be one way to give him a solid character in the lore while dramatically decreasing the time it takes to actually roll it out.
Making his character lore-relevent would be brilliant, I just don’t really think they’ll do it. Here’s hoping for something on the level of Harrison Jones 😛
Now you mention it that would be great.
There’s actually already a comedian in the Shattrath Tavern, Perry Gatner. Course, they could just give him the sack, his jokes are pretty terrible.
This was clearly something planned before the untimely departure of Robin Williams, chances are they were going to put a reference in before his passing.
Not necessarily, those are just 2 standard human models and a Djinn (spelling?), which were quite common in Cataclysm. It’s possible though, it’d hardly be the first time Blizzard had done something similar.
