Familiarity is underrated in video games. Sometimes, I don’t want anything new or crazy. Sometimes, I just want to play Bayonetta again since the original game was already awesome.
Thankfully, it looks like that’s what Bayonetta 2 is shaping up to be… plus some added surfing levels, which are always are a good thing, in my book:
GameXplain got an extended look at the upcoming Wii U exclusive and posted a few videos with new footage and their impressions on the game. The main takeaway? It’s more Bayonetta. And that’s a good thing, because Bayonetta is one of those rare games that hasn’t been done to death despite the original’s popularity and critical acclaim.
Fans of the original 2009 game will recognise a lot in the above videos. There’s the same fast-paced combo-based combat that made Bayonetta satisfying in that visceral God of War-type way. And despite her new, shorter ‘do, the eponymous star is still rocking the same salacious leather outfit and hair-based attacks that gamers know and love.
So yeah: I’m pretty excited for Bayonetta 2. Let’s just hope that nothing goes wrong with the Wii U GamePad.

Looks great. I did have the PS3 original, but it had a bunch of problems (some were fixed with a patch).
And since Wonderful 101 was my favourite game of last year, I can’t wait to get into some more epic Platinum action.
Good to know, been waiting for this for quite a while now.
I hope they don’t have massively long levels doing this like they did in the first game. The only thing I didn’t like in the first game was the missile level and the bike level…
Which was unfortunate, as the missile level had one of the best boss fights in it 🙁
