There’s another Mass Effect coming. We don’t know a lot about it yet. But now we can finally see some of what’s going into Bioware’s next sci-fi game.
Last week at Comic-Con International, Bioware held a panel about the next Mass Effect. This video gives a look at some of what they showed, including glimpses of the male and female versions of the main playable character.
Some of the info from the panel has trickled out since, like the fact that the Mako vehicle would be coming back. Nevertheless, it’s good to see what the thinking will be behind some of the creative decisions going into Mass Effect Not-4.

No boob sockets and not skin shown? I am so disappointed of this excuse for a female armor!
Jokes aside, would be nice if they implement a separate mode or storyline for gamers that never played the previous instalments of this series. I was so disappointed from ME3 since I didn’t really want to play the previous versions.
I seem to remember that there was a game (can’t remember which game though >.<) that had a sort of “Last time on _____!” video that explained the previous game in the series when you started (and had the option to skip if you had seen it)
Stuff like that would be cool to see in these games (Although I think they’d rather you be confused, then buy the older games to make sense of it :/)
I remember now! It was the Bioshock Infinite DLC, had a short video explaining Bioshock 1.
mass effect did that though; with the genesis DLC.. granted they came out after the original release; and you had to pay a little for them on most platforms; but they were still there.
ME3 was the best. Story line wrapped the way you would expect but that was always going to happen. You’re most likely a bit disappointed due to playing ME3 first. All I know is being as emotionally invested as I was with the story I was more than satisfied with the ME3 ending and never understood everyone’s ire.
The ire was how they always claimed your actions mattered, which they did with the ending of ME2, and then at the end you just picked a different coloured explosion that had no real bearing on any choices throughout
I played the earlier games, however I played the first on 360 the second on PC and was punished in the third for playing it on PS3 and not having a save file to import. Many choices and outcomes were unavailable to me as I didn’t have the imported save file, I felt so ripped off considering I had actually followed the series and had achieved what I feel were the best outcomes in the earlier two games.
Exactly my thoughts also Greenman. The feeling that you were missing something was overwhelming. And of course, ME3 was like starting reading a book from the 200/314 page, at least for me.
I think that Bioware will have no trouble at all getting everyone to get everyone interested in a Mass Effect 4. From the looks of the concept art here, they are going back to a ME1 style game, with giant exploration. With the new current gen consoles more powerful than the last, I’m sure this time they may actually be able to put something in those giant open expanses!
People will be wary about a new ME after what they did to 3, but then again the marketing will cost more then the actual game, so expect 9.5/10 and 10/10s on all the major gaming site, to help it sell well.
Return of the Mako!!! Exploration is coming back to Mass Effect!
I absolutely love the music that kicks in at around 4:27. This is the one song throughout the Mass Effect series that gives me goose bumps and has me itching for more sci-fi exploration.
