It’s August. It’s friggin’ hot in Japan. And like every summer around this time, Tokyo Big Sight is steamrolled by Comic Market. So cue the cosplayers, please!

Comic Market (Comiket) is a bi-annual event primarily dedicated to fan-made comics. This event, which has been held since the mid-1970s, has helped popularise cosplay in Japan over the decades.
You really gotta give these cosplayers credit. It’s been hovering around 102 degrees at the convention center, and some of these brave folks are decked out in hot and heavy gear. That’s some serious dedication. Good for them!
However, people cosplaying as characters in swimwear are probably handling this horrible August heat best.

Many of the Twitter users linked above are doing a great job of covering Comic Market cosplay. Perhaps the best, though, is Channel R, who has been tirelessly cataloging pretty much each cosplayer. Hopefully that will continue as the event grinds on through the weekend.

that porco rosso is great!
Hahaha, good stuff.
I loved how not ONE person was paying attention to E. Honda. They were all focused on the fan service behind him… At least he looked authentic!
