Despite being out for nearly three years, Skyrim continues to be played and well-loved by tons of folks — especially by those willing to dive into its bewildering modding world.
Given that, it might not be surprising to hear that a ton of Skyrim’s reviews on Steam are actually sort of recent. Lots of people are still getting lost in Skyrim’s world, lots of people are still taking on too many sidequests and trying their best to kill Lydia. You see this appreciation reflected in the funny and sometimes absurd Steam reviews for the game. If nothing else, Steam reviews allow us to see some of the weird obsessions people take on when playing the game. Skyrim has a knack for bringing out everyone’s weirdness.
Take a look:
I’ll admit, I’m tempted to re-install Skyrim and give it another whirl. I never got to play the game with mods, so really, you might say its like I’ve never played the game at all.

Just got the Legendary edition for cheap. Fucking thing has frozen way to many times to be considered Legendary
i too purchased legendary on the cheap and have had no such issues.
You’re either doing it wrong or you bought the PS3 version.
Exactly like in the picture!! Did the same thing. First thing I did in riverwood was kill a chicken.
As a first time adventurer, hadn’t even popped my knee cherry yet, who was I to know this poor defenceless chicken was somebodys property. 5 days later, Mordas I believe, I ran into 5 hired thugs. Among them a bandit chief highwayman. I was level 2 at the most and every saved game I ran back to, had them following me 2 days behind. In the end I ran into a giant camp for help.
The chief highwayman had a letter from the lady who runs the farm in Riverwood.
It read like I had terrorised this woman for years, and she could stand it no longer.
She payed 5000 gold, the amount of her inheritance to get rid of me!!
Maybe your character had terrorised her for years? Who knows what happened before that cart ride!
Anyone else find reviews like this extremely annoying and unhelpful when you are actually debating whether to buy a game?
I find these amusing, but when I’m looking for useful information I go straight to the negative reviews.
EDIT: Also, don’t waste your time looking at which reviews are most helpful. All the negative reviews just get voted down by fans who, for some reason take it personally if someone posts a negative review about a game they love, no matter how objective and useful the review might actually be.
I actually rebought it for the PC, just because of one of those hillarious comments, during the steam summer sale lol.
Did you, screenshot a review about getting laid right after you upvoted it?
This has to be the funniest read in this article and it’s not even part of the article!
Modding has definitely brought Skyrim back to life for me, and the random CTDs are exciting too.
11,816.6 Hrs on Skyrim?
That equates to about 492 days of pure Skyrim.
Madness.
The open-world cooking comment got me.
Played this game more since June than in the entire 2.5 years beforehand. The modding has just reached a beautiful critical mass. Highly recommend immersion mods like frost fall and realistic needs. Immersive armors and weapons make crafting and looting more interesting. And I just discovered the flyable airship home which is my new favourite things. Also, if you haven’t played Dragonborn yet I would recommend it. Best storytelling in the game thus far (not BioWare quality but better than Alduin storyline)
