A big question many gamers have had since The Sims 4 launched last week is how the latest instalment compares to the other three core games in EA’s longstanding series. Now, one Sims fan has attempted an answer in the most literal way possible: by playing all four on one PC at the same time.
Reddit user Simmemann didn’t go into too much detail in his post about the games, but his screenshots still give a great visual reminder of how The Sims has changed over the past 14 years.
Here is the first neighbourhood from each of the games, for instance:
Clockwise from the top left: TS1, TS2, TS4, TS3.
He also recreated the tutorial family:
Clockwise from the top left: TS1, TS2, TS4, TS3.
And, of course, the Goths:
Going clockwise from the top left: TS3, TS1, TS2, ending with TS4 on the bottom left.
We’ve come a long way, Bella!

It’s the only question I had about The Sims 4, answered!
After going from adult to old man to child, Mortimer is an adult again?
Does this mean Sims 4 is a reboot of Sims 1?
That’s the way I look at it, seems like a reboot to me. Despite some of the missing features I really like the game, I realised once I started playing it, that I rarely used stuff from the EP’s anyway, except for Pets, University and Cars. But I am really enjoying it atm.
The article said that re re-created the old families.
I’m pretty sure there is no Goth family in the Sims 4…
I consider this game as the Sims 2.5
They’ve just sort of mushed 2 and 3 together.. i love they brought back in the item rewards for advancing in career.. but Hating the “you need at least 5 friends to progress to the next level!”
And no open world is pretty balls
There are so many Pro’s and Cons… I hope it gets better with expansions because atm I like the sims 3 game play better..
There is a goth family on Sims 4 as with every Sims…. Though I dont think that’s the same Mortimer Goth (developers intended) it’s probably a kid that was named after their grandparent/great grandparent.
That or im looking into it too much
From my understanding, Mortimer and Bella are “Young adults” in this, putting it a little before Sims 1 in the “timeline”
I don’t play these games, but from these screenshots it looks like the main change is that each game has just… zoomed in.
So I am guessing that the Sims 5 will be “uncomfortably within personal space area”.
So far Sims 3 is still my favourite sims game to play.
Sims 1 is great cause it had baby dragons and magical gnomes to do my gardening.
Sims 3 is my fave, however I can’t get it to run smoothly WITHOUT using mods to clean up the bugs. I wish EA didn’t abandon it, there hasn’t been a patch since January.
What mods do you use for bug fixing?
http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Overwatch
and
http://nraas.wikispaces.com/ErrorTrap
ErrorTrap works on its own, you’ll want to read the wiki instructions for Overwatch to configure it.
In-game you can configure it to automatically reset stuck sims, kick out homeless, get rid of glitched cars, etc, etc.
