Iconic game creator Shigeru Miyamoto is making his first animated short film. It stars Pikmin and is fittingly called Pikmin Short Movie.
As noted on Cinra, the film is the result of things he wasn’t able to explore in the game version of Pikmin. The movie is broken into three episodes called “Midnight Juice”, “The Treasure Inside the Bottle” and “One Tough Day”.
The movie’s done in CG and will be shown in 3D. It’s not yet known how long the movie will be.
Pikmin Short Movie will be screened at next month’s Tokyo International Film Festival and also shown at Toho Cinemas Nihonbashi free of charge, with tickets given out via raffle. Details on that will be provided on a later date.

Awww god this is gonna be adorable.
This is awesome because Pikmin is awesome. I’m glad he is still interested in them and hope we get another game soon.
I was a bit disappointed in the length of 3 after it was in development for over 10 years…
Why? You could easily get a good 40 hours worth out of it, then there was something or other I heard someone mention about DLC that I haven’t looked into which would’ve thrown even more on top of that.
Yeah, it was great and I loved every moment of it. I guess I was just a bit bummed when it all came to an end. I just love the whole concept, the exploration of levels, building a little army, going a bit further every day.
