Last night, a new trailer hit for the long-awaited Final Fantasy XV. The internet seems to have a consensus on it: the game is looking spectacular.
There’s lots of hype right now — partially because the game looks great, but also because folks hadn’t seen new footage in a long while. The Final Fantasy fandom was hungry for this.
That’s not to say people won’t make fun of the game a bit, especially when it comes to the road-trip aspect of the game, or the design of the characters. And the extended development time is definitely a thing people like to joke about too — I mean, it’s been in development since 2006. But the jokes are still all in good fun!
Here’s what the internet has to say about the new Final Fantasy trailer:
UPDATE: Chris has made the most important GIF/reference to the new trailer:

Final Fantasy: once about grand adventure, now about handsome dudes who dress way better than me going on road trips in expensive cars.

Final Fantasy XV is the Simpsons episode ‘Bart on the Road’ but in JRPG form. I’m okay with that.

What the fuck is Final Fantasy anymore?
3D Anime – The Video Game
The last few FFs have made me really not want any remake of the older games. If this is what they’d turn them into, they can stay the hell away from the classics.
Oh I can assure you, they have NO idea why Final Fantasy 7 is praised as one of the greatest videogames ever created. It’s why I’ve never been in favour of a remake, they’ll just botch it up even further.
Loving that bromance/broadtrip. I had a good laugh over the cave painting joke.
I’m usually against diversity-for-diversity’s-sake but my god this game needs a female.
Eh, on one hand I’d actually forgotten that I saw the first trailer for this while I was still in high school. Jesus, 2006. On the other hand, I haven’t cared about Final Fantasy in a long time and this looks different. Not sure about the sausage party angle, but glad I wasn’t the only one who got ‘Fear and Loathing’ vibes from it.
