A lot of the Smash Bros. roster might’ve leaked ahead of time, but that didn’t stop anyone from getting hyped on the secret characters found last night via Japanese streams.
It makes sense: while there are a few clones and returning faces, some inclusions in the upcoming Smash game are damned amazing. The internet has reacted to that.
If you don’t want to be spoiled on the secret characters in Smash Bros, please stop reading now!
To recap/contextualize these reactions…the characters that people have found so far are Duck Hunt Dog, Dr Mario, Wario, Falco, Ness, Bowser Jr, Mr Game and Watch, Dark Pit, Ganondorf, and Rob and Jigglypuff. There might still be more hidden in the game. There might not, judging from some screenshots floating around.
Regardless, reactions largely fell into the following categories:
- OMG DUCK HUNT DOG
- Fuck you, Dark Pit
- Why are there so many clones?
- Where is [insert favourite character here]?
- Thank you, based Sakurai
Here’s what the internet had to say about the Smash Bros. secret characters:
*Alarms go off in Sakurai’s bedroom.* Sakurai: Oh god no. Sakurai’s Wife: It’s begun. Sakurai’s Cat: They’ve got Smash.

My name is Joe, I’m 30 years old and this Smash Bros hype is making me feel like an 8 year old who still has to wait a month for Christmas.

It’s gonna be weird/cool when all the smash players come together to play smash 4. New friends, battles between top players. Should be fun

I heard Duck Hunt Dog was in Smash Bros. and I almost started crying. We’re gonna be okay, everyone. All of this? We’re gonna be okay.

Well, we know this much: The Duck Hunt Dog is going to have, bar none, the most psychologically devastating taunt of all time. #SmashBros

@coastward That’s crazy. How does a game that’s not even out yet, with only two people streaming it get more viewers than destiny on twitch?

I love the last tweet, what a moron… maybe it’s because everyone is actually playing destiny and not watching some obese nerds playing it for them….
Duck Hunt Dog is going to be amazing, but where’s Simon Belmont 🙁
I never even thought about Belmont. What an amazing smash bro he would make!
