I’m not a big fan of unboxings these days. There’s a lot of cardboard involved, and if shot incorrectly my hideous feet might get in the frame. But in the case of Mad Catz’ $US400 Force Feedback Racing Wheel for the Xbox One, unboxing it on video was a necessity.
Otherwise I might have left this giant box sitting on the floor of my office until late this month when Forza Horizon 2 comes out or worse — saving it until November’s Project Cars.
See, in order to remove this from its box, I’m also going to have to rearrange my entire office, disassembling several projects in order to utilise a table as a mount. “But Fahey, it comes with lap rests!” Screw lap rests in their stupid lap rest faces.
So I unbox. Pardon the feet.
I feel much better about things now. Now Mad Catz can stop worrying that I’d just sold it on eBay or something. Oh, and for the record, that’s real suede covering the steering wheel. Makes me want to break out my old moccasin boots.
I’ll set this puppy up completely this week. Then I’ll wait until the end of the month for Forza Horizon 2 to come out. In the meantime, you can read up on the wheel over at Mad Catz.

Has anyone made a triple pedal shifter wheel setup for the XB1 yet? Screw flappy paddles in their stupid flappy paddle faces. I want at least a sequential shifter.
Not yet hopefully soon
I was originally going for this Mad Catz wheel but I saw this the other day and it may interest you. (Yes, there is a shifter add on, which I will surely be grabbing too.)
It’s not cheap, but it definitely looks like the best Xbox One wheel so far.

thrustmaster has the T3PA pedal set. that is compatible with the T300 and T500 wheels for the PS3, PS4 and PC.
They are also compatible with the TX Wheel range that is Compatible with the PC and Xbox 360 and Xbox ONE.
and the T3PA pedals are pretty sweet. watch the review it has a couple of diff pedal options. Fanatec also probably have an offering but I dont know.
@xbladelx @nunyabuismess thanks heaps, looking into the thrustmaster now 🙂
$400 and no clutch and independent shifter pffft
I’m gonna go for a G27 and a next level racing seat hooked up to a PC.
Can’t play Forza though on xbone but I prefer the realism of the simbin games anyway.
So frustrating that Logitech wont pay the licencing fee, sold my G25 when I moved to solid Xbox gaming from PlayStation.
Yeah would be nice to get a Logitech wheel for Horizon2, Fm5 and the inevitable DiRT4 and Grid3
$400 and you don’t even get a proper gear selector or clutch?
It’s no G27.
Does the g27 work on ps4?
Out of sheer curiosity, did that come through Home Entertainment Suppliers? Because that box looks beat to hell (and iirc, HES are the sole importer for Mad Catz [second tier] peripherals)
