They Weren’t Kidding When They Said Final Fantasy Type-0 Was Dark

A couple months ago at PAX Prime, Final Fantasy Type-0 director Hajime Tabata told reporters that this game was dark. Really dark. “It’s a much more mature game than what you’ve seen before,” he said.

It seemed very much like a PR talking point — we’re mature, and gritty! — but damn if this new Type-0 HD trailer doesn’t sell me on it. Is it just me, or does this game look a whole lot like Final Fantasy Tactics?

I know some of you have played Final Fantasy Type-0 already — it’s been out in Japan for three years already! — but for those of us unlucky English-speakers who haven’t been able to check it out, this upcoming remake, out in March for PS4 and Xbox One, is pretty damn exciting, even if it does kinda look like a PlayStation 2 game.
