Among the many tweaks and changes we think would make Destiny a better game, a HUD-free screenshot tool features prominently. Destiny is a gorgeous game, but it’s very difficult to show that off without a huge gun or some HUD-clutter getting in the way.
Case in point: These fantastic screenshots captured by redditor TwilightGap, who appears to have used a clever trick: By sitting/emoting with the camera just so, then entering and exiting the game’s menu, it’s possible to capture a split second with no HUD on the screen. Far more finicky than it should be, but hey, these shots are worth it:
You can see many more over at the full gallery. OK, Bungie, over to you: Everyone wants to share this stuff; make it easy for us!

Moving forward, I think all games should have a screenshot feature. I like how Dark Souls 2 implemented it. After a few seconds of no action, the HUD disappears and you’re free to screenshot to your heart’s content.
That’s actually quite a good idea. Destiny just boots you to the menu…
One thing I can think off that will probably be a good feature would be the option for the game to save two sets of screenshots per capture, one with a HUD and one without it. That way, no matter what you’re doing you’ll have two sets of images to choose from.
Wind Waker HD’s selfie tool should be implemented into more games 🙂
This article could also be renamed to “The Xbox One Needs A Screenshot Tool”.
yeah ps4 controller has a capture/share button. so….yep.
ok edit because i didnt read the article (looking at the pretty pictures then straight to the comments!)….so yeah, would be cool to be able to capture without a big ol gun in the way. sometimes i find myself just looking at the far off lands of each level through my sniper scope. there is a lot of nice work and design that went into the game.
And here is my great conundrum about most games. Combat bores the shit out of me, but I love living in those worlds….
Where’s the last pic from in Destiny? Looks awesome and I can’t remember seeing a place like that so far? Maybe it’s in the Vault of Glass or something, since I haven’t done that yet.
It’s the Burning Shrine Crucible map, set on Mercury. It only appears in certain modes, from what I remember.
Ah fair enough. Have only played a tiny amount of Crucible so far. Planning to dive into some tonight and hopefully not get completely slaughtered! 😛
I’ve only seen it ion Rumble once in 3 hours of playing it. Never knew it existed before then!
Ah, that’s the one I was thinking of! Fairly sure it only appears in Rumble. There’s another couple of maps that are the same.
Apparently Mercury will be explorable as a full planet in one of the DLCs.
Reeeeeally can not wait till this is released on PC
