Bioware’s Edmonton & Montreal studio GM, Aaryn Flynn, has been canvasing for opinions on a Mass Effect trilogy re-release in a NeoGAF post.

Well, eventually. It took him a little while to get there:

Once he got everything working he started asking people what they wanted, if there was to be an upgraded collection of Commander Shepard’s adventures. Aaryn emphasises that this is just a “wish list,” and also reiterated there was “no news” about anything coming to new consoles in a tweet:

Here’s what he originally asked:
The thing I’d love to hear from people is what you’d like to have in such an experience. For me (personal opinion, and based on what people have told me many times before):
– 1080p
– 60 fps
– High res textures, especially on ME1
– Some shader improvements commensurate with newer GPUs
– All the DLC
– “Seamless experience” – the adventures flow into each other without having to go back to save import, menu screens, etc.
Agree / disagree? What else?
Bear in mind this is a “wish list” at this point…
He also went on to answer questions and clarify a few things. For example, he talked about a more natural way of introducing DLC within the story as you explore: “The ‘organic implementation’ is definitely what I have in mind. It should just all be there, as if it never wasn’t there (if that makes sense).”
He also played down any ideas of reworking later mechanics into earlier games: “The ‘ME3 combat mechanics in ME1‘ comes up relatively often, but it’s not on my radar (again, speaking personally). First it would be a helluva lot of work. Second, I hate the idea of us being accused of ‘retconning’ ME1. Third (and I bet everyone on NeoGAF knows this), there are those who prefer ME1… So given that all that, it doesn’t feel like the right thing to do.”
Anything you want to see? And don’t talk about the ending.

If they brought this to PS4 I would gladly buy it and finally play through the trilogy..
Yea I agree, even on pc it is a pain to get everything running with updated textures and what not… would love a re release with updated graphics (nothing fancy). If it came with dlc included it would almost be a must by on ps4.
Yeah it is, plus I’ve no real interest to play it on PC now, I have the first 2 on Steam and then I need to go boot up Origin to play the 3rd. Plus now you can’t run Origin via the Steam overlay either so that’s even more annoying.
If they’re going to do it like GTA V’s remake, it’s ok I guess. If they’re going to release the same game in 1080/60, then it’s part of the problem plaguing this generation.
That would be the only logical solution build it from the ground up with the PS4/Xbone in mind. Would seem like a total waste of time if they didn’t..
No, new game please. The game isnt even that old?
The series isn’t very oldm me3 was 2012 and still had sub-par graphics.
i would love a remake, especially me1.
This, I played mass effect 2 after finding it in a bargain bin (praise be to whoever put it there) and went back to number 1.. I was sad because it was considerably clunkier (which to be fair is pretty normal!) so I’d buy a remake too!
Yeah definitely work on new stuff, not reliving past glories.
I’m still waiting for a “trilogy edition” with all the DLC.
One day…
DLC installed automatically. That would be amazing.
Ill definitely play this again on current gen systems if it comes with all DLC. Great trilogy and cant wait for the forth installment.
Oh hell yes. Give us the HD of all 3 already.
The only requirement for me to re-buy the trilogy on PS4 is for it to be on a shelf somewhere.
Yes, Remaster and release this on as many platforms as possible. Then work on a Mass effect MMO
I’d buy this in a heart beat.
so basically the master chief collection but for mass effect?
I was skeptical after reading the headline, after all, how many more damn times am I going to buy Mass Effect? It’s going to get to Diablo levels of madness at this point (I have this problem where I buy things on different platforms/versions/lose non-digital copies/etc).
But now that I think about it, putting ME3’s incredibly solid combat into ME1, prettying everything up, crushing the Mako into a small cube and pitching it into a nearby star, re-doing UIs/inventory management/drop-rates/balance etc so that the end-game of ME1 isn’t basically a race to open as many things with gel as you possibly can so that you can break more weapons down into it because you can’t sell them anymore because you hit the max for your bank balance several missions ago…
On PS4? With savegames that carry seamlessly across all three games, all DLC already incorporated so I don’t have to go back in my memory to a point where things that I know have happened to ‘My Shepard’ haven’t yet…?
Yeah. I’d buy that. In a heartbeat.
The Mako was my favourite part that was removed from the game. It was the only time I really felt like I was exploring the universe. Even if it was largely empty and the Mako handled terribly, actually exploring those deserted planets was much better than rubbing your cursor over spheres or navigating a “universe” that was really just another menu screen.
It made me feel i was in a real world, with history and context. I would wonder what happened on those planets. Were they ever populated, how did that corpse get there, etc. Finding the Prothean Orb and reading the story (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5o1QONiBZC8) was a specific instance of intrigue for me.
But yeah that inventory system was heinous.
The exploration and intrigue parts were fantastic.
Holding the thumbstick down til I thought it was going to break or tear the skin on my thumb trying to get that fucking thing to climb yet another GOD DAMN MOUNTAIN? Not so much. If movement hadn’t been so damn painful and the areas so sparse, it would’ve been better.
THIS, I have never upvoted so damn fast!
I’d be so keen for this – but I want them to refine ME1 so it plays more like 2 and 3. Do what Blur did to Halo 2 😛
…. Yeah, I just finished a super, full DLC play through not 6 months ago. I’d rather just have ME4.
I’d like to holster my weapon in ME3 and not be prevented from a lack of memory lol. Any one remember the loading screen that was needed to get your weapon in and out?
Sad to say I have yet to play this trilogy.
I gave up after spending way to long in the Citadel on the first game…everyone says it gets better after but at the time I wasn’t interested.
I think it would be an awesome way for those who didn’t play the trilogy to get into it. Kinda like the Master Chief Edition, for current Gen to get into an old game with a fresh and polish start.
More character interaction and bigger maps. I never had any issues with the trilogy.
