Mario Kart Parody Of Cheesy Pop Song Is Better Than The Original

Mario Kart 8 is a game about perseverance in the face of adversity. No matter how many different coloured shells, or banana peels, or scary-looking Luigis knock you down, you’ve just gotta get back on your kart and keep racing. In other words: it’s the perfect source material for an inspirational pop song.

YouTuber DrKendoCommentaries recently posted this excellent rendition of Andy Grammer’s once-famous song “Keep Your Head Up,” inspired by the Mario Kart 8 track Shy Guy Falls. For a point of comparison, here is the original Grammer version of the song and music video, which features a guest appearance by one Rainn Wilson:

I dunno about you, but I think I prefer the Mario Kart version of the song. Realigning yourself after getting hit by a red shell is just such a great metaphor for overcoming adversity in life!

DrKendo said that he’s planning on making a whole series of Mario Kart-inspired songs, so keep an eye on his YouTube channel if you like what you heard. Let’s hope they will all be this good!

Previously in wonky Mario Kart musical tributes, there was this great cover of Drake’s single “0 to 100” by Levar Allen.
