This Is The Police is a game about being a cop. A crooked one, who instead of hitting the streets and fighting crime is hitting the streets and trying to make as much dirty money as he can.
You play a retiring police chief who, with retirement coming up, is fed up with playing by the rules while the rest of his colleagues go around skimming money off drug dealers and hookers. So he decides to spend the rest of his career getting in on the action.
The game, currently up on Kickstarter, could have been satire, but it looks like it’s playing things pretty straight! You’ve got to manage your team of crooked cops, deal with the mafia, and still go around investigating the odd crime as well.
It sounds cool, but looks it as well; witness the early front-runners for “Screenshots of the Year, 2015”.

I just backed this on the hopes it meets its stretch goal of $30,000 so it’ll come out on Mac, too, but it looks super good.
Damn. ‘The Shield: The Game’? Really hoping it can tackle the issue of police corruption with sympathetic moral ambiguity, but I suspect that kind of thing may take too long to set up.
