Zombie Studios, opened all the way back in 1994, has closed its doors. Best known for its work on the original Spec Ops games and Blacklight series, Zombie also did a lot of licensed stuff, from Zork games to Saw.
For once, the reason for a studio closing down is not “run out of money” or “publisher being awful”. Instead, Zombie’s owners are retiring, with Zombie staff – along with the rights and dev work on Blacklight: Retribution – moving over to a new studio, Builder Box.

Good to hear that no one was fired. Zombie Studios hasn’t…. made a good game for a long time, but it’s always sad when someone gets fired, and so I’m glad no one got fired.
I hope they move onto better things. However, I will say that whoever signed the studio on to make that atrocious Blackwater game does deserve to get fired. Hopefully whoever that person was, they are retiring alongside the owners. Because Blackwater is awful and anyone who agreed to make propaganda material for them is also awful.
