It’s not that Far Cry 4’s version of The Himalayas is ugly, far from it, but just look at this.
The map was made by artist Simon Barle of DICE, who also worked on the most recent Battlefield. It’s an Unreal Engine 4 recreation the real-life Huangshan mountain range, and it was finished late last month after some extensive tweaking based on feedback from the project’s Polycount forum thread. I can easily see myself grappling to the top of that spire to hunt down and skin some ferocious, cave-dwelling yak, only to end up sitting down to take in all the beauty.
Anyway, there’s one video and several gorgeous HD shots for you below.

The more I see Unreal Engine 4 shots and videos, the more gimme gimme gimme I get
I remember also thinking this about Unreal Engine, Unreal Engine 2 and Unreal Engine 3.
Will probably also continue to think this about Unreal Engine N+1
Well sure it looks nice, but what sort of framerate would you get on the average PC?
Over 9000
I thought that the Shangri-La environments in Unchartered 2 were pretty spectacular.
Reminds me a lot of Zhangjiajie in Hunan Province. That was spectacular! http://tinyurl.com/lhkpbyn
Which reminds me of Avatar.
The floating mountains in Avatar were apparently ‘inspired’ by Zhangjiajie.
IN YOUR FACE Beauty of Real Nature! Seriously though, damn fine work….
