Hunger is… unsettling. It’s also a PlayStation 4 exclusive by Tarsier, the team who created the PS Vita version of LittleBigPlanet. It also looks incredible. Think Limbo with a colour scheme, severed hands and an atmosphere so oppressive it might just crush your bones.
The game’s high concept is relatively simple: you are a girl trapped in a labyrinth full of monsters and you must escape. The team is apparently focusing on tactile controls, unique camera perspectives and characters with “soft, dark centres”. I don’t know what that means and a large part of me doesn’t wanna know.
But seriously, this game looks phenomenal. The visual style, the fidelity. It almost feels as though you can sense the weight of the controls in the video footage, which bodes well for how the game will actually play. The enemy design is what impresses me most: really dark, creepy, unsettling. Limbo is an obvious influence, but the game looks and feels unique.
I’m really, really excited for this one. Hunger was announced in May last year, but this is the first time we’re getting to see it in motion. You can find out more about the game here.

Mmmmm… soft, dark centres.
Woah. One to keep an eye on for sure. It looks incredible.
Bummed this is PS exclusive. Any idea if it’s a full scale game or an arcade game? Been pretty impressed with the amount of smaller indie/arcade games coming out. Look forward to these more than most big budget, big scale, AAA games recently.
This reminds me of heart of darkness one of my favourite ps1 games.
That looks amazing – sold!
Dayum! Instabuy methinks.
Makes me think of A Shadow’s Tale for some reason.
Limbo on steroids
