To be honest, I kind of like it. As noted on Figsoku and Famitsu, this is the “Variant” line of Square Enix’s collectible Play Arts figurines. “Variant” means the design has been slightly changed or modified, as in these Star Wars figures.

The tweaks to these characters, along with the battle-worn appearance, work well — a lot better than that Square Enix Batman figure that was revealed last year.

The Darth Vader figurine, which you might’ve seen previously, is out in May, but the newly revealed Stormtrooper and Boba Fett won’t be out until July. Each is priced at 12,960 yen or $140.
