In the latest instalment of The Fine Bros. “Torturing The Elderly” series, a group of older folks don’t take kindly to seeing people graphically slaughtered.
As it turns out, ripping apart a guy’s skull and using his lower jaw (complete with bubbling esophageal hole) as an ashtray makes older people uncomfortable. While the jury is still out on kids, teens and pets, I’m pretty sure the results would be the same. Hell, I’m skeeved out by it, and I’ve been playing the series since I was a teens react.
I would have found it more entertaining if some of them actively enjoyed it. Maybe one makes low moans, another bites their lower lip suggestively. And then one of them starts arguing at how fake it looks compared to the real thing.
The real tragedy here is they actually held an elders’ tournament prior to showing them all the gore, and many of them seemed to really get into it.
Now Libby will never go pro. All that potential wasted.

Frankly neither am I. I played the hell out of the MK 2 & 3 growing up, and still fire the arcade collection up on steam, but the fidelity of the new games makes me really uncomfortable. I have no interest in preventing other people from playing the games, but despite being more than fine with extreme violence in many other situations, I find the lack of context and glee with which a more realistic MK shows off it’s violence quite nauseating.
Wow that fatality where they rip the guts out through the mouth.
Really not regretting bypassing this one. Who the heck thinks of this stuff?
Maybe I’m just totally desensitized, but I thought most of the fatalities in this one were pretty lame. I still cringe a bit thinking about Noob’s wishbone fatality from the last one though…
I miss the classic fatalities. Maybe netherrealm should add those as DLC, call it a Klassik fatality packs zeros spine rip and scorpions torch face all the way, but I love cassies Facebook fatality, and johnny’s shining fatality. Do you remember how cool it was kicking the ass of an old guy who transforms into all the fighters you killed at will and switches in fight?
I read a rumour somewhere that they were releasing classic fatality pack.
Apparently not part of the Kombat Pack though… :/

I think it’s the fact that he does it bit by bit, instead of one fast motion.

I’m sure just about everybody gets the “Here’s Johnny! reference. It’s just one of those things that no one ever forgets, let alone teens.

Ah, gotcha. As for the whole “everybody gets it” thing, I’d like to point something out. I’m 22, going on 23. That movie is 12 years older than I am. Even if everyone remembered it, it’s way before a lot of peoples time
The only fatality that’s made me cringe a bit so far is Mileena’s 2nd fatality where she slashes at the abdomen and separates the lower from the upper torso, as she eats the guts the upper torso tries to crawl away…
Regardless, it’s a great game.

I find it extremely interesting that most of them seemed offensive, including the woman in the green shirt who I was waiting to walk out – then loved it when they had a go and actually played it!
I got the impression that them playing it was before showing them the fatalities.
I think they played the game first and then were shown the Fatalities.
