On PC, The Witcher 3 now has more graphics than ever, as CD Projekt RED has just dropped a second patch which increases the quality of textures on high and ultra settings. Also, you can rebind keys now!

- Corrects a bug that caused spontaneous combustion of gas clouds.
- 1280 x 720 resolution is now properly displayed as a valid resolution option.
- Fixes boat stuttering in cutscenes.
- Texture rendering quality for the high and ultra presets has been improved.
- Further improvements made in NVIDIA Hairworks performance.
- A few additional gwent cards are now available in the Prologue area.
- Fixes an issue where users with usernames incorporating non-Latin characters were unable to import saves from The Witcher 2.
- Includes a series of overall stability and performance improvements.
- Fixes issues related to alt + tabbing and minimising the game window.
- Updates the game icon.
- Enlarges the loot pop-up window in the UI.
- Fixes an issue where, in certain circumstances, the comparison window could extend beyond the game borders in the UI.

PSA: This patch will make your Texture Settings set to Low. Be sure to bump it back up when you’re in game post-patch!

Pretty excited to give this a go when I get home tonight. I’m in the camp that thinks the game looks amazing as it is, can’t wait to see the improved textures! Might be just in time too, pretty sure Geralt is close to having sexy time again.
I wonder how many sexy times he will have this game.. :p I’m hoping to get get the “Most Sexy Times” achievement this time 🙂 hehe..
The first sexy time was quite well textured.. no issues there..
Haha that is very true. Are we talking about with Keira? That’s been my first and only time so far. Let’s be honest, the main reason most of us are playing are to see Triss naked again..
Awesome! Its time to overclock my graphics sticks and get ready to graphic.
this post needs more graphics…
Looking forward to a little bit better performance… hopefully.
Do the patches download automatically if installed on gog? Or do I have to download and apply them?
Either/or.
Galaxy has an option to Auto download and install, it always has the option to manually update.
You can also download the file directly from the GoG.com account page and you can even still use the GoG Downloader to download the files.
Big text is in the next one, right?
How about fixing the damn loading times on the PS4 version?!
Random loading at every turn that pause the game for 1 to 4 minutes is not amusing.
Haven’t noticed any issues myself. It’s all been pretty seamless
if you’re getting load times that long i think there is something wrong with your console dude… its been pretty good for me
I got the PS4 one month ago. Every other game I have runs perfectly.
Maybe it’s the game disc?
I just rebuilt the PS4 database. The game has been running for over an hour now with no issues so far. Fingers crossed it will be ok now.
give this a try…

saw this last night and thought of your comments 🙂
Thanks KRiSX.
I saw that article and tried what they suggested.
Still the same problem. After the latest patch. The frame rate has slightly improved for me. But the random loading is still there.
I was in the middle of a conversation with an NPC when it froze and started loading something again. Waited for about a minute.
While walking around again. My map temporarily disappeared again.
I really hope it’s not my console. If I take it back and get a new one. I am going to have to download all my game dlc’s. Patches. All over again. GTA V heist dlc. Shadow of Mordor dlc. MKX. AC unity. Drive club etc. There goes my monthly quota.
It sucks how when you delete a game. The Ps4 deletes all your patches and dlc for that game too :/
Not going to bother updating yet.. game is playing just fine on the day 1 patch. I don’t want to screw things up with new bugs.
This patch note makes me a little sour though:
“A few additional gwent cards are now available in the Prologue area.”
Just hope they’re not only available through the innkeeper…. you know what I’m talking about if you’ve played past the prologue story section.
I do like a lot of the patch items in this latest patch, there are many things there that I have seen people crying out for since day 1, especially in regards to rebinding of keys.
Where did you find a copy of a game that doesn’t auto update in 2015?
Direct download from GoG… well actually I did install the client through Galaxy but I don’t use Galaxy to run it, have installed all patches including day 1 directly from website downloads and I have auto-updates off in Galaxy anyway. Steam allows you to turn auto-updates off too you know?
Good lord, yes Steam allows that but why would you?
Auto-update ALL THE THINGS!
This, Nothing worse than going to play a game when you get back from work then finding out there’s an update. Much better to have it update while I’m at work.
That’s only if the game FORCES you to use those updates. It’s one of the reasons I dislike consoles so much, they generally force updates on you. Sure, if it were an online multiplayer games, I can see the need and I would also have it on auto-update.. but for offline, single player.. no thanks! 🙂
He probably like to keep early game exploits for the game.
Is this referring to the 1.03 patch, or a new 1.04?
The new 1.04 patch!
Ahh ok cool, appreciate the clarification 🙂
something to hit up when I get home…
*glances at the clock at work*
*shakes fist*
faster damn you!
This patch did wonders for the FPS in my game!
Running everything on ultra besides foliage distance (which is at high) @ 1080p and finally getting a smooth 60fps on an R9 290x – it’s great.
A couple weeks ago I said this:
Witcher Developers: “You know what? Fuck it. Scale it back for console. Let PC gamers Skyrim the shit out of the game. Saves us doing it and makes us look like we’re supporting the mod community.”
Guess I was right.
Hey, does anyone play this on high or ultra but at lower resolution? Is this a viable option? For me, on high, it stutters but is beautiful …
I like my game smooth and at native resolution so I am running medium at 1440p. Lowering resolution makes it look like crap.
Why did they make the loot window so huge, its like I am playing DA:I all over again, the window was fine as it was (i say that playing on PC on huge tv with controller, so dont me junk about it being for consoles, even with my bad eyesight it was already the right size)
Now if only they would fix the annoying frame hitching/stuttering that occurs during the horses walk animation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFH7gufhI0o
“Rebinding of all keys is now available after switching on the ‘Unlock Bindings’ option in the Options\Key Bindings submenu.”
What. the. hell?
Why is this even a thing to patch.
This is why I don’t buy games new anymore.
I’ve learnt my lesson from Watch Dogs.
Games are released in Beta these days. Takes weeks/months to get ready for use.
I’ll hold off until I know what game I’m actually buying not some tech demo.
