Huh. Not really what I was expecting!
The image above was discovered by Test Your Might, and it’s the product of PC players tinkering with the game. While Jason Voorhees does wear a mask during the entirety of Mortal Kombat, Netherrealm Studios did render a face under there. A face that nobody was ever supposed to see.
Here’s what Jason actually looks like in the movies:

They should have used Kane Hodder’s face. That would have been a cool little Easter egg for fans of the movies.
Or at least given some sort of generic mask and a bunch of skins relevant to the different movies (there ARE differences!)

Kane Hodder has nothing to do with Mortal Kombat. He’s the actor that played Jason in a number of Friday the 13th movies.

Then they might have had to pay to use his likeness, which would be pretty silly for something no one would actually see in game.

My god. That’s terrible. So generic. That isn’t Jason at all 🙁 Thankfully, with mask, he’s one of the best fighters in the game. A bit OP but still great.
Keep in mind that face is not actually intended to be seen in-game.
Absolutely, but its just kind of a… ‘You went to the effort of designing that… why not at least make a rudimentary Voorhees face…’

I have no idea what he looks like as I’ve only ever seen about the first 20 or 30 minutes of the first movie. I remember thinking “this is lame” and turned it off. I kind of want to watch the series, but if it doesn’t get any better than that I think I’ll give it a miss.
Also never seen any of the Nightmare On Elm Street movies and only one of the Halloween movies (H20 from memory).
I’ve never been a huge fan of the Friday movies. Halloween isn’t that good, either. I’m more of a Nightmare on Elm Street and Child’s Play guy 🙂
