This is neat! LowSpecGamer (via NeoGAF) used some external programs to tweak the game’s files, reducing the volume and quality of the game’s objects to such a ridiculously low extent that the game can run on a terrible, old laptop.
The proof? The footage captured here was taken on a terrible old laptop. Here are the specs:
CPU: Dual-core 1.7 GHz Intel Core i7-2637M
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M
And it runs at a playable-enough 25fps. Not bad! Owners of terrible old laptops, remember: a crummy Witcher 3 is better than no Witcher 3 at all.

Video is already down Luke
Give it a week, it’ll be back up.
Not in Australia, it’s now legal for companies to ban websites.
You can also pay to have private meetings with the LNP frontbenchers as well…
this looks like the work of a DMCA troll as theres now way in hell that this was pulled by CDPR
Maybe he used copyrighted music in the original? I don’t know, I didn’t get to see it.
So Dual-Core 1.7GHz i7 processor and 8GB of RAM means it’s a “terrible laptop”
Mine must be considered positively craptacular then, with a Dual-Core 1.6GHz i5 processor and 4GB of RAM.
And it’s got a discrete graphics card too lol I’ve seen much much worse
And they said they couldn’t get it to run on the WiiU….
Since when are those low specs!? An i7 is an i7 lol… I got an i5, 8GB DDR3 and a 1GB Mobile radeon 7670 or something..
Is there something higher than an i7?
graphics card is what makes it ‘low spec’
i7 is a tier name, not a model. The i7 tier has been around since 2008, but there have been several generations within that tier. Current generation i7 CPUs significantly outperform first generation ones.
Yeah fair point, my desktop has a top line dual core… from 2006 lol.. not gonna compare to today’s DCs…
Try it again, this time with an AMD Radeon card, see how it performs then. My specs are similar to @jdrive.
Wow, we now live in a time where 8gb ram in a laptop is now considered crap and low spec.
What a time to be alive!
Doesn’t run like a PS2 game though 😛
That craptacular laptop would eat a PS2 for breakfast.
Reminds me of the good old PC days, when I was too young for a job and my parents couldn’t afford a new PC or upgrades… Spent many hours logging through different .ini settings to get games to run.
Kids miss that sort of stuff these days. I have a much better gaming rig now that I love and constantly update. I let my Nephew play it and show him new games that blow my mind like Crysis, GTA 5, Witcher 3 he looks at them and says wow, but I can tell it doesn’t resister how magnificent it really is.
I use to envy the younger generation, brought up on amazing tech I never got. But as I got older I realized I wouldn’t change it for the world.
