We haven’t heard much about Dead Island 2 since it was announced at E3 2014. Get ready to not hear much about it for quite some time to come — publisher Deep Silver just announced that they’re dropping the developers, Yager.
Says the publisher:
With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner YAGER. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage.
Dismal stuff. Sounds like we won’t be getting this game for a very long time — if at all.

Placing bets this is another fail.
Thank god for Dying Light.
Why the hell can you still pre-order this, even though it doesn’t even have a developer??? Surely Deep Silver should go, hang on, we are having trouble with this game, we probably shouldn’t be taking people’s money just yet.
PRE-ORDER IT ON STEAM BEFORE THEY RUN OUT!
Noooooooooooo, this looked awsome.
Disappointing news, Yager are good at crafting cool stories
I heard that Deep Silver are teetotallers.
They were concerned about a Yager Bomb.
Yer! Spec-ops the line was pretty Rad
Oh no! Where will I get my zombie fix from?
I am sure there will be another 40 billion zombie games soon
Just adds more proof about what techland said about all the issues with dead island and deep silver. Dying light was fucking great with hardly any issues because deep silver had no input in it
Hardly any issues??? Dying Light has TONNES of issues! I love the game dearly, but it’s buggy as hell!
I played the PC version and have an Nvidia card so for me the problem was rather limited to the usual frame rate issues, so it was rather smooth. Not sure what it was like on PS4 and Xbone though
I have a 660, it ran fine for me, but issues were other areas. Missions stuffing up etc.
First game was a repetitive glitchy broken mess. Why did they even bother attempting a sequel?
thank fuck.
Dead Island 1 had alot of good ideas and I did enjoy it, but yes there were problems. The fake GOTY edition was a joke. DI Riptide was the real mess. It would be great to have a quality not-so-serious zombie game like Dead Island 2. Dying Light is great and the patches fixed most of the issues, as well as adding heaps of free content, but they fell short on the voice acting/character front. It was terrible. A serious zombie game needs half decent characters, but I always cringe at the voice acting in Dying Light lol. So bad. Dead Island 2 looked like a big improvement over D1/Riptide.
If only it had the been of The Last of Us in terms of great characters.
