God dammit Double XP I thought I was finished crying…
I really don’t get that Awkward Zombie stuff. I missed out on a lot of Nintendo as a kid. Is that why?
Roy is a Fire Emblem character who first appeared in Smash Bros Melee on GameCube alongside Marth, but then in Brawl on Wii was replaced by another FE character, Ike. The latest Smash game on Wii U and 3DS initially included several FE characters, including Marth, Ike, RObin and Lucina (who is basically just a female clone of Marth), as well as another Roy (one of the Koopalings) as an alternative costume for Bowser Jr. But still no love for FE Roy. So it’s been a running joke that being passed over for the latest game, he has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. About a month ago he was revealed to be returning to the series as a DLC character, so now he has to get over the whole resentment thing. Hope that helps make sense of things?
Oh and there might be added resentment of Pit in this one, since he got dug up for Brawl in 08 then got himself a third game for his series after some 20 odd years with 2012’s Kid Icarus Uprising. Not sure if Roy’s featured in any other FE games since the GBA one that came out some time after Melee, I don’t FE much.
It’s an ongoing joke in Awkward Zombie that Roy wasn’t invited back to Smash Bros. If you read the last couple of comics, this one will make a little more sense, but makes more if you’ve read earlier ones involving Roy.
Maybe you have a sense of humour and that’s why you don’t get it?
This Awkward Zombie joke has really run its course. >_>
Wiimote for smash? Oof.
Man that quote by Iwata is awesome and so true. I’d add that those kids will one day grow up and remember how much they loved the stuff, and will be Nintendo fans for life. I know it’s the case for me and most Ninty supporters.
I almost had to link the Tidus laugh again but the Pokemon park one saved it. Purely because of that gyarados face at the end.
