With the release of Dai Gyakuten Saiban in Japan, there are now nine games in the Ace Attorney series. And one of the coolest things about the series is how they take the songs and remake them while still keeping a common musical theme from iteration to iteration.
Take the “Objection!” track for example. It is used at the climax of each trial in the series and while the versions of it below can be quite different from one another, they all share the same core musical theme.
Objection! 2001 — Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Objection! 2002 — Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All
Objection! 2004 — Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
Objection! 2007 — Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
Objection! 2009 — Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
Objection! 2011 — Gyakuten Kenji 2
Objection! 2012 — Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Objection! 2013 — Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies
Objection! 2015 — Dai Gyakuten Saiban
The track “Questioning” or “Cross-Examination,” heard when you are investigating a witness on the stand, also has had quite a fun evolution.
Questioning ~ Moderato 2001 — Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Cross-Examination ~ Moderato 2002 — Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All
Questioning ~ Moderato 2004 — Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
Questioning 2007 — Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
Cross-Examination ~ Moderato — Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Questioning ~ Moderato 2013 — Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies
Questioning ~ Moderato 2015 — Dai Gyakuten Saiban
Isn’t it cool how the Ace Attorney game soundtrack always feels both old and new at the same time?

If there’s one thing that Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright had going for it, it was an impressive sound track! I would definitely recommend it to any 3DS owner.
Also, the first 3 Phoenix Wright games are available really cheap on the App store for iPhones. It’s a pretty good game to play while on the bus etc.
The first 3 games are also available as a bundle on the 3DS. Shame that getting a hold of edgeworth 1 and apollo (and edgeworth 2 but it was never localized) is now a case of trawling ebay
Nothing really beats the tunes from the first 2 games, although I do really like Dual Destinies’ take on Objection.
Agreed. The original’s Objection! track was my favourite version by far, and I nearly cried when I realised they’d changed it in the sequel.
I paid for the Ace Attorney 3DS theme for the sole reason of having the Objection tune play when I open up the console. Such a great tune.
Plus I have Pursuit ~ Cornered as my ringtone.
Without even thinking about it much, I think the first Phoenix Wright soundtrack became my favourite video game soundtrack of all time.
I love this serises and its music. I’m hlafway through Gyakuten Kenji 2 and have played all of these except PLvsPW, which I’ve bought and am soon to play. What a great trip down Recent-memory Lane
