Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Let’s see how the versions stack up.
The game’s official Japanese page has comparisons between PS4/PS3, Xbox One/Xbox 360, and PS4/PC. You’ll have to do the PlayStation/Xbox comparisons yourself!
Previously, we saw how Ground Zeroes stacked up against The Phantom Pain.
Current gen looks better than previous gen! Shocking, I know.

There’s definitely a diffence between them, but the true difference comes when you play one at 20ish frames per second and one at 60 fps. The fluidity offered by current gen consoles isn’t there on the last gen consoles.
And resolution. It’s not just a number….. *glares at ubisoft*
“Resolution, it’s not just something you get at the end of a good Breaking Bad season…”
Ground Zeroes on my PS3 was pretty good though. At least they’ll be playable. I think that’s cool.
Oh it runs well, it’s just a case of there’s little perks, better animation and smoother gameplay on ps4. It’s not saying its bad at all.
Well duh. Of course!
It’ll probably be a different story when it comes to actually playing them, but last-gen still looks pretty fantastic to me. Then again, I’m easy to please.
Acronyms confuse me sometimes. Metal Gear Solid V: Twitch Plays Pokemon! Or even more exciting, Metal Gear Solid: Trans-Pacific Partnership!
I had very little interest in this game until yesterday, when I watched the Mother Base video and some of the E3 stuff. Holy shit. Now I’m so excited.
I was turned off by the brevity of Ground Zeroes, and haven’t played a MGS game to completion since 2, but damn. Yesterday I was like “Fuck MGS: TPP, I want Mad Max on Setember 2nd!” Now that’s reversed!
They all look great, doesn’t look like anyone genuinely “loses” with this game. Not yet…
Except if you’re Hideo Kojima.
PS4 looks to be the best
PC looks better IMO. The lighting in the night shots for example.
I don’t think he was looking to role PC into the comparison. The PC being the best version is an obvious given 😉
Guess you didn’t see the PC ones then…
Eh, PC has visibly crisper textures and mip maps.
Interesting that his arms are different from PS3 to PS4.
You can actually change arms in the game, so maybe that’s the case? They probably changed it to one that looked better on the PS3 just for the screens.
I didn’t realize. Thanks a lot.
No worries 🙂
Wonder what this would be like at 144HZ on PC
Good, I would assume.
Just loudly having a froth over here.
Frothin’ all over the place.
Having a frothy day.
Cannot wait for this game. I’m very excited for it!
not giving Konami a cent.
