Well, I’ve downloaded and played a game about helping another man in the shower. That’s my day made.
[It goes without saying, but this is NSFW]
It’s called Rinse and Repeat, and its the latest game by Robert Yang.
You might remember Robert Yang. He’s the (goddamn genius) who made a game about having sex with your car. There was also the game about the complicated world of dick pics.
In short: he is no stranger to this kind of material.
I don’t know how I’m supposed to be reacting to this, but I can tell you how I am reacting: it’s amazing. And hilarious.
And quite honestly, I get it. Sharing a shower with other men after sports or gym is such a strange male experience and I think that’s part of why this is so hilarious. As men (especially young men) we sort of just hunker in the shower, try and avoid looking at each other’s balls and kinda just… get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.
This game. Man, this game. It just completely skewers that feeling.
A lot of thought has gone into this game. Yang explains this in a blog post (that is super interesting).
Older gay men understand this in a tradition of cruising and gay bathhouses, while younger gay men might narrativize it more as a reversal of bullying dynamics in high school gym. Above all, the locker room is understood normally as a place of danger, where you could be discovered or outed or beaten for “looking at someone the wrong way” even if you were just minding your own business — and there’s nowhere to hide, not even in your own clothes.
He spent a lot of time on the water droplets, getting them to flow properly (and erotically).
Interestingly, there’s also a need to wait. The first time you play the game you’ll be thrust straight into a scrubbing scene. But once that’s done there’s waiting to be done. Robert Yang has put together a randomly generated list of gym classes. You literally have to wait until the next class finished in order to find more men to scrub in the shower.
I mean seriously. This is an incredibly detailed male group shower simulator.
Rinse and Repeat is flat out hilarious for me (a straight white man) to play. I couldn’t stop laughing the whole time. Your reaction may (and probably will) differ but you’ll almost certainly have some sort of reaction.
I recommend playing this video game. You can download it here

ahahahaha excellent.
I’ve always thought this seemed like more of a foreign thing. I mean yeah I haven’t really played any team sports since I was a little kid, but throughout highschool I don’t remember anyone using the showers after a PE class unless we’d been in the pool, in which case people were still in their swimming costumes anyway. And the changeroom at the gym I go to has individual shower cubicles, so it’s not happening there either.
Just seems weird to me 😛
Never showered after team sports, always went home and showered like everyone else. Same with school, maybe it’s an american thing? This game looks pretty funny though.
Local swimming pool had showers setup like this.
My highschool had communal changeroom and showers. The jocks loved that place. They’d run around whipping each other with their rolled up towels and then shower together. Occasionally they may decide to pee in their cupped hands and throw it at each other.
I dunno. I think I’d rather play Car F-cking Simulator 2015.
I just wanna know why that guy has sunglasses on in the shower.
So he can, So he can,
Watch you weave then breathe your story lines.
Wow! That was disturbing. I’ll pass thanks mate.
Imagine the outrage if the genders were rev….no. I should stop pointing out hypocrisy.
Don’t go there, you would be labelled all sorts of nasty things lol. If the genders were swapped there would be massive outcry lol.
In Japan, im sure this exists.
No luck on my Mac Air. Black screen when the game loads. Heartbroken.
Shower With Your Dad Simulator opened the floodgates! We’re looking at 2016’s hit genre!
What’s race got to do with it? Are brown people more likely to be used to scrubbing naked men? Less likely?
What does it meaaan?
In other cultures shared bathing isn’t as unusual as it is in white american culture.
If the game had women instead of men, this article would be different.
Sunglasses in the shower? This is crazy.
You all should play Cobra Club
lol what did I just play?
I was hoping for something like this in The Phantom Pain. Paz’s diary entry in Peace Walker about Big Boss and Miller fighting in the shower… and all we got was those porta-showers.
To be fair Miller would probably be safer in the bath
I think heavy rain beat this game
