Our Favourite Games From October

Like September, October saw plenty of game releases, big ones and small ones alike. And while we did have a few disappointments, the games on this list are pretty good.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Our Favourite Games From October

In his review, Chris considered Syndicate the best Assassin’s Creed game to come out in years.

You can buy the game for Xbox One, or preorder it for PC.

Chesh

Our Favourite Games From October

Chesh is basically chess on drugs. Evan couldn’t stop playing it.

You can buy the game for iOS.

Cryptark

Our Favourite Games From October

Nathan thought sci-fi stealth roguelike Cryptark was unusually polished for an Early Access game. He had a lot of fun with it.

You can buy the game (keep in mind that it’s in Early Access) for PC.

Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition

Our Favourite Games From October

The updated and expanded re-release for one of the best RPGs to come out in recent years. It even managed to put Divinity back on our list of best PC games.

You can buy the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Downwell

Our Favourite Games From October

Downwell is a fast-paced vertical roguelike where you progress by falling. Evan kept going back for more.

You can buy the game for iOS and PC.

Else Heartbreak

Our Favourite Games From October

A hacker-themed adventure, Else Heartbreak is one of the most interesting Steam games Nathan’s played in ages.

You can buy the game for PC.

Halo 5: Guardians

Our Favourite Games From October

Tina, while reviewing Halo 5, played both the singleplayer and the multiplayer. The former was OK-ish. The latter was great.

You can buy the game for Xbox One.

Keep Talking And Nobody Explodes

Our Favourite Games From October

In this multiplayer game, you defuse bombs following instructions you get from other players via voice chat. Nathan tried it with his girlfriend, and had a hell of a time.

You can buy the game for PC.

Life Is Strange Episode 5

Our Favourite Games From October

The final episode of this adventure series contained some of its most memorable moments, Patricia foundeven with the ending being a hot mess.

You can buy the game for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 1

Our Favourite Games From October

Minecraft, as a Telltale adventure, is charming, funny, and works surprisingly well. Patricia didn’t like the omnipresent Dreamworks smirk, though.

You can buy the game for Android, iOS, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Mushroom 11

Our Favourite Games From October

A really unique physics platformer where you’re a regenerating fungus. Evan thought it was super clever.

You can buy the game for PC.

Need for Speed: No Limits

Our Favourite Games From October

While it does have an annoying fuel limit, Mike enjoyed the fast, 30-second races in NFS: No Limits.

You can get the game for Android and iOS.

Persona 4: Dancing All Night

Our Favourite Games From October

As Mike said in his review, Atlus has Persona 4’d the rhythm game. With great results.

You can buy the game for PS Vita.

Planetbase

Our Favourite Games From October

For Nathan, building an off-world colony in Planetbase was a tough, but immensely satisfying experience.

You can buy the game for PC.

Prison Architect

Our Favourite Games From October

As Chris’ review states: you can build pretty cool prisons in Prison Architect.

You can buy the game for PC.

Rebel Galaxy

Our Favourite Games From October

For this actiony space sim, Nathan’s takeaway was “Firefly: The Video Game.” This is obviously a good thing.

You can buy the game for PC.

Rock Band 4

Our Favourite Games From October

As Mike noted in his review, Rock Band 4 gives you the best single-player experience of the bunch.

You can buy the game for PS4 and Xbox One.

Shooty Skies

Our Favourite Games From October

An extremely addictive scrolling shooter from the makers of Crossy Road. Mike had some trouble putting it down.

You can get the game for iOS.

Sniper X

Our Favourite Games From October

Deer Hunter with humans… and Jason Statham. Mike thought it was quite good.

You can get the game for Android and iOS.

Soda Dungeon

Our Favourite Games From October

Mike really enjoyed this mild, soft drink-themed mix of turn-based RPG and management.

You can get the game for A tactical board game that came out last year. Luke tried it recently, and had tons of fun.

You can buy the game here.

Tales from the Borderlands Episode 5

Our Favourite Games From October

The finale to Telltale’s Borderlands series is its darkest episode. Nevertheless, Nathan adored it, and spoke at length about the tough choices he made in-game.

You can buy the game for Android, iOS, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Hearts of Stone

Our Favourite Games From October

While he expected quality, Kirk didn’t think Witcher 3’s first paid DLC would be this good. It’s pretty much the perfect expansion.

You can buy the game for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Transformers: Devastation

Our Favourite Games From October

An actually really good Transformers spectacle fighter with great combat. Mike certainly didn’t see it coming.

You can buy the game for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

Yoshi’s Woolly World

Our Favourite Games From October

Keza from Kotaku UK reviewed the new Yoshi when it first came out in Europe this past winter. She had a great time with it, even if it felt a bit uninspired.

You can buy the game for Wii U.
