The Credits Are My Favourite Part Of The New Neptunia

I just finished the newest Neptunia game, Uberdimension Blanc + Neptune Faction Vs. The Zombie Army, and its ending credits are its best part.

[*Spoilers Begin*]

Uberdimension Blanc + Neptune Faction Vs. The Zombie Army is your run-of-the-mill hack-and-slash game. In each level you are dropped into an area where you kill swarms of enemies and/or bosses to finish the stage. Then after some story, you’re right back at it again.

The credits of the game show a vastly different version of the game than the one you just played: the game re-imagined as a 16-bit Zelda-style adventure. And man it looks fun.

Of course, this is a reoccurring feature of the Neptunia series — most of the games end by showing tantalising footage of a retro version of the game you just played.

The main series of games, as JRPGs, become retro 16-bit RPGs.

The Neptunia IDOLM@STER clone, Neptunia PP‘s credits pay homage to classic music games ranging from Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker to REZ.

The Vita game, Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed —which plays quite similar to Uberdimension Blanc is re-imagined as a 2D platformer in the credits.

With Neptunia games continuing to come out of the woodwork, let’s hope one of them eventually features playable versions of some of these imaginative glimpses into retro gaming.

Uberdimension Blanc + Neptune Faction Vs. The Zombie Army (Geki Jigen Tag Blanc + Neptune VS Zombie Gundan) was released in Japan for the PlayStation Vita on 15 October 2015. There is currently no word on a Western release.
