Black Ops III’s First Map Pack Is Skipping PS3 And Xbox 360

Black Ops III’s First Map Pack Is Skipping PS3 And Xbox 360

Awakening, the first map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, will be out for PS4 on February 2 and will come out for Xbox One at a later date. It won’t be coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 at all. It’s got four maps (one in a water park!) and the first chapter of a new four-part co-op zombies campaign.

Here at Kotaku, we’ve fallen in love with the zombie stuff, so we’re most excited about that. Here’s a summary about the new zombies level from the press release:

Der Eisendrache, the first chapter of Call of Duty: Black Ops III’s Zombies DLC adventure will take players on an epic journey with the Origin characters Richtofen, Nicolai, Takeo, and Dempsey. Set in an eerie medieval castle built upon an ancient site of unspeakable horror, massive deposits of Element 115 have recently been discovered, delivering inspired new gameplay and – in Zombies tradition – a variety of exciting plot twists and surprises that fans will have the opportunity to discover for themselves.

But, yeah, no 360 or PS3 version. Those versions of Black Ops III didn’t have a campaign, but it’s a bit surprising that their multiplayer map offerings aren’t being beefed up with Awakening. It’s unclear if the next three map packs will be skipping the older systems, too, though it seems a safe bet.

There’s no word on when Awakening is coming to PC. We’ve asked and will update if we find out.
